Preference Project Topics• Power Saving In Maglev Train• Hydro Power Plant• Wind Energy

Selected Project Selected Project •Power Saving In Maglev Train

Page 4: Power saving maglev

Working Principle• Magnetic levitation is the use of magnetic

fields to levitate a (usually) metallic object. • Manipulating magnetic fields and controlling

their forces can levitate any object.

• Most important application of Magnetic Levitation is Maglev Trains, Lifters & etc.

Page 5: Power saving maglev

How Magnetic levitation Works

This means there is no friction between the train and the track!

Page 6: Power saving maglev

How Traditional Guidance WorkLateral Guidance is use to Push the train In forward direction It works on Attraction & Repulsion principle of Magnet

Since all the Guiding Magnets are Electromagnets, Hence they requires huge Amount of Electrical Energy.

Our Project Concept

Page 8: Power saving maglev

Figure in above slide shows actual concept of Project

•As shown in figure, we are levitating our train Using 2 pairs of Magnet .

•The train will float due to Resultant of magnetic field in the air gap .

•The train will move in forward direction due to air Pressure exerted by fan

Page 9: Power saving maglev

Use of High speed Turbine Fan in Maglev train

Typical working of An Turbine Fan

Page 10: Power saving maglev

•As shown in previous slide, High speed Turbine fan has Capacity to breath low pressure air & release that airWith a tremendous pressure.• That pressure causes an high speed of motion in the Forward direction•As there is only one turbine fan required, It reduces its Capital cost & as well as running cost also.

Page 11: Power saving maglev

Areas for Implementation

•Due to high capital cost of Maglev trains they areEstablished in only some countries Like Japan, China.

•But if this Concept comes true & works fine, then the Capital cost will be reduced by 35%.

• This reduced cost will attract Government as well as Private companies to invest in project of MagLev train

•This Little project will contribute small share in development of our country

Page 12: Power saving maglev

•All noise comes from moving air. This sound is equivalent to the noise produced by city traffic.

•Speed can be increased Upto 750 Km/h

Advantages

Page 13: Power saving maglev

Safety•The trains are virtually impossible to derail because the train is wrapped around the track.

•Collisions between trains are unlikely because computers are controlling the trains movements.

Maintenance• There is very little maintenance because there is no contact between the parts.

Page 14: Power saving maglev

Disadvantages• This system is not ready for use now, but it should be

ready in a few years.

• The top speed is too high so we will required new controlling methods.

• The permanent magnets create a strong magnetic field that could be a problem for some passengers.

Page 15: Power saving maglev

Summery• Maglev trains use magnets to levitate and

propel the trains forward.

• Since use of turbine will reduce capital cost as well as running cost also

• It is a safe and efficient way to travel which will slightly increase the growth of our

country

Page 16: Power saving maglev

•Use of Turbine Fan is an efficient way for the reduction in running cost of Maglev Train.

•Use of Turbine Fan is an efficient way for the reduction in capital cost of Maglev Train.

•The MagLev offers a cheap, efficient alternative to the current rail system. A country like India could benefit very much if this were implemented here. Further possible applications need to be explored
