In order to further increase our performance and to achieve our objectives we are looking for a POWDER DISTRIBUTION MECHANISM (PDM) ENGINEER Wherever metals flow in the world, Vesuvius and Foseco are recognized as the embodiment of highest performance and profitability. Vesuvius location Mülheim is the worldwide largest production side of Mould Powders for the Continuous and Ingot Casting. Vesuvius Fluxes is a product line within the Flow Control division, responsible for the development, production and customer service of our range of flux powders and distribution mechanisms. End markets are the automotive and commercial vehicle industry, modern power generation, and the shipbuilding and engineering sector. Our Business Responsible for the collection of accurate data to facilitate feasibility study prior to offering a PDM to the customer. Responsible for assisting Product Managers and local Sales personnel to prepare accurate and comprehensive proposals for customers which result in on-going business. Successfully install and commission new PDM projects with the minimum of interruption to the customers operation achieving agreed key success factors. Developing maintenance and service schedules for existing and new installations. Conduct maintenance ensuring the smooth operation of the PDM. Where required, raise quotes for the supply of relevant spares and maintenance. Develop KPI’s against which we can report and monitor PDM performance. Assist in ensuring the data available from our “Smart” PDM’s is accessible to both Vesuvius and the customer and is used to improve flux performance. Responsible for assisting Flux Product Managers to prepare PDM sales budgets. Knowledge, experience and skills needed Qualified to degree level ideally in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, although other engineering disciplines will be considered (Mechanical Engineering, Automation etc). Experience of continuous casting within the steel making process would be highly advantageous. Awareness of Health and Safety regulations and capable of working safely in hazardous areas of our customers operations in compliance with regulations and guidelines. • Good commercial acumen. Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communicator – both written and spoken. Will need to be able to confidently and competently interact at all levels on customer site from Caster Operators to Caster and Technical Managers. Will need to have the ability to explain complicated facts with the help of presentation media. Highly motivated, self-starter capable of working on own as well as part of a multi-disciplinary, multinational team. Must be comfortable with extensive travel throughout Europe for regular periods of time during commissioning and maintenance of PDM’s and thus must have a flexible approach to working hours. Innovative, creative and entrepreneurial Very good English language skills - spoken and written.
