Hatchery Tray DryingAfter the washing process, hatchery trays are

normally stacked to dry, often for more than 24 hours.

The compact, low horsepower, low noise, Air Knife

Drying System dries the top, bottom and sides of

hatchery trays enough to allow the paper liners to be

installed and trays reused immediately after washing.

Systems from 15 to 30 horsepower utilize high

velocity low volume air (up to 1200 cfm) to dry better

and faster than compressed air systems of up to 70

horsepower.

The first stage of drying is a double bank of high

velocity jet nozzles aimed to impact and release

water from hard to reach areas. The second and third

stages rely on highly efficient air knives with velocities

up to 35,000 feet per minute. A knife edge curtain on

all sides prevents the water droplets from passing.

If viewed in slow motion, one drop is pushed back

to join another and another until the weight of the large

drop exceeds its ability to stick to the tray (surface

adhesion). The mass is now pushed off, much like an

invisible squeegee, not one drop at a time but as a

wave.

Energy SavingsA 1/8” diameter hole in a compressed air pipe at 75 psig will allow 3.0 scfm of compressed air to escape. The average compressor produces 4.5 scfm per horsepower. A quantity of 5 holes 1/8” in diameter equals 15 scfm or 3.3 horsepower. Drying eggs or hatchery trays would require hundreds of holes to remove the water. Hundreds of holes , hundreds of horsepower, cold wet contaminated air. The Adamark Advantage: 25-30 horsepower warm dry air with guaranteed drying results .

Guarantee

Our competitors claim 85-90% dry which means 10-15% wet . 10% of a lot of water is still a lot of water. The Adamark Guarantee: 100% customer satisfaction with the drying results and horsepower savings . If not we correct it at our expense or accept the system back for full invoice credit .

Belt Cleaning

The Adamark System can continuously clear both sides of cutting belts of poultry pieces , blood and fats while the belt is in use. This results in drastically reduced sanitation times . The same air knives can

dry belts after sanitation in 2 to 3 passes , not 2 to 3 hours . Maintenance and manual cleaning is virtually eliminated. Waste is confined to a designated cleaning area .

The Adamark System can be designed to add up to 60ºF over ambient temperature to the drying air stream. High velocity high temperature air can be used to remove frost and even ice from freezer belts . This means less defrost time and less product slippage on frozen belts . Reduced maintenance and faster belt speed is another Adamark Advantage.

Egg DryingThe development of coding eggs put increased

demands on existing drying systems. The multi-stage

system dries individual eggs as they tumble on roller

beds 24 to 60 inches wide. Blowers provide warm, dry

oil free air at velocities up to 32,000 feet per minute.

High velocity and low pressure means the air knife

does not have the blast force to splash a broken or

cracked egg reducing losses to only the eggs on

either side. Existing installations report a reduction in

both noise and horsepower over traditional systems.

Package DryingSelf Contained Modular Conveyorized Drying

System are designed originally to dry water from tray

packaged poultry pieces after a hot water shrink

tunnel. Removing all the water prior to weighing

means accurate weights and no lost time due to

having to dry and reset the scale.

Dry packages mean labels won’t crinkle, wrinkle,

slip, slide or stick to the package above. Inkjet codes

never smear on dry film. The modular self contained

drying conveyor fits in a six foot space between the

shrink tunnel and the labeler. The system integrates

the air knives and blower into one unit featuring a

variable speed drive designed to prevent product

crowding at the scale.

What began as a custom solution to drying poultry

pieces in tray packs has evolved into a versatile

product line capable of drying kielbasa to whole

wrapped or unwrapped birds to packages or hotdogs.

Sauce ControlOne area where Air Knives really shine is in the

control of sauce on breaded or un-breaded poultry

pieces. Too little sauce and your customers are

unhappy. Too much sauce and unit costs increase

due to increased material consumption and increased

freezing times. A single stainless steel blower driven

air knife with Hepa filtration will remove just the right

amount. Variable frequency smart drives can be

integrated with product codes or line speeds to adjust

amount of sauce.

In fact Air Knife System savings can create a return

on investment of 100% within 8 months by increasing

freezer capacity by not freezing excess sauce.

The key factors to air knife drying system success in

the poultry industry, apart from the fact that it works,

are:

• Compact in size

• Easily adaptable to existing equipment

• Quiet (80-87dBA)

• Supplied with wash-down motors, epoxy

painted surfaces and stainless steel components

• Does not require compressed air

• Complete conveyorized systems engineered to

Becker Vacuum pumps are world renowned in food

packaging applications. Oil lubricated rotary vane

vacuum pumps in two operating ranges of 2 Torr

and 0.4 Torr. Oil lubricated pumps can be supplied

with booster blowers for fast evacuation down to 0.4

Torr. Becker long lasting durable oil free rotary vane

vacuum pumps are used in automated pick and place

carton packaging. Regenerative blowers and vacuum

pumps from R.E. Morrison Equipment Inc. range from

Becker’s worlds best in engineering and design to bolt

in replacements for any competitive model.

Egg Pick and PlaceBecker oil free compact and quiet rotary vane

vacuum pumps provide the instant vacuum required

to remove eggs from processing lines. Both handheld

wands and automated robotic pick up arms utilize the

power of Becker pumps.

Carton Erecting and Case PackingBecker oil free pumps are ideal for applications

in carton feeding and case packing. Many new

equipment manufacturers use Becker oil free rotary

vane vacuum pumps to move cartons through the

packaging process. With vacuum levels up to 27”

Hg, the recovery time is almost instant on plastic

or styrofoam cartons. When fiber cartons are used

Becker high volume regenerative vacuum pumps are

used to overcome the porosity of the carton.

Vacuum Massaging and TenderizingBecker oil lubricated rotary vane pumps dominate

this market in Europe. Ultra quiet and very efficient

the Becker Advantage is dependability. No need for

expensive oil and costly maintenance. R.E. Morrison

Equipment Inc. has developed a unique clear acrylic

inline water separator to keep product and liquids

from contaminating the pumps. BaseVac Vacuum

Systems are available to centralize the tenderizers into

one common pump. The frequency control option

delivers the optimum volume to ensure consistent

vacuum whether one or ten users are active.

BaseVac Systems and unique filtration options keep

production speeds at desired levels with reduced oil

maintenance due to contamination.

Vacuum PackagingFor many years vacuum packaging was the

dominant market of our competition because of the

space limitations of placing a non-standard pump in

a cabinet. No longer are pumps limited to the vacuum

packaging cabinet. Our Becker Systems are available

to replace any brand of vacuum pump in the vacuum

packaging of poultry or red meat. Becker oil lubricated

pumps capable of 0.4 Torr can be supplied stand

alone or with booster blowers in packages. The use

of a booster blower with variable frequency drives

or traditional bypass valve load protection makes a

Becker pump work like any other.

Sausage DegassingBecker pumps are standard equipment

on Handtman Stuffers and adaptable for all

manufacturers. Compact size and powerful

performance make Becker a leader in this field.

Vacuum regulated at 29” Hg and a competent oil

separation system places Becker at the top of the

list. Central Systems can be engineered to supply

many stuffers in a loop. This works only with medium

vacuum demand systems. Variable frequency

controlled pumps eliminate fluctuations common in

traditional multi-pump systems.

Beyond PackagingTank aeration, waste pond aeration, scrap

collection, spice conveying and vacu-hoist lifting are

listing only a few.

Becker provides sales, engineering, service,

overhauls and warranty repairs throughout North

America.
