All Pottsgrove families are welcome.This is the only school sponsored college financial aid/planning night. Outside organizations who rent our facilities may offer a similar program (but seeking clients)-- BUT the program is not school sponsored !!!!

Abbott & Fenner Scholarship- seniors can apply for this scholarship which requires a response to an essay question and possibly receive $1,000. Students can visit the website for further information:

American Chemical Society Scholarship- (up to $5,000)- seniors, underrepresented minority student: African American, Hispanic or American Indian students pursuing a college degree in the chemical sciences. Visit website for details: www.acs.orgDeadline is early March.

**The Alumni Association of Pottsgrove Award- This $400 award is available to Pottsgrove Seniors who are involved in extra-curricular activities, who maintain good grades and demonstrate citizenship. Students must

write an essay: “What has Pottsgrove done for you?” and focus the response in three areas- academics, extra-curricular and educators.(Applications for this award are made available in the beginning of April and have a deadline of the first school day in May.)

ACE Mentor Scholarship- senior ACE Mentor student, have good attendance in the program, have team leader’s recommendation, plan to pursue post-secondary school in Design & Construction Industry. Visit www.acementor.org in late January for full details- before the March deadline.

AES Engineers Scholarship- ($500)- seniors planning to pursue their education and who are strong academic students, any college major is eligible. Students must go on-line beginning in August to:

Seniors must plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States; have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B), demonstrate involvement in community service activities, volunteerism, school activities and/or employment responsibilities. (Students should apply on-line atcommerceonline.com/americandream Applications can be visited beginning in late October with a mid-December deadline)

The American Heritage Federal Credit Union Scholarship- ($1,000) This scholarship is available for seniors who will be attending an accredited institution, be a member in good standing of American Heritage; criteria considered for this scholarship are: academic achievement, GPA, extra-curricular activities and community involvement, student evaluation and writing skills. Applications are available at www.amhfcu.org Students are responsible for obtaining all necessary materials and mailing them to the address by the deadline. ( This scholarship is usually accessible in late January and has an early April deadline.)

American Legion Essay Contest (PA)- (First place- $3,500)- open to seniors, essays must have a cover page with specific information, essays must meet specifications and topic of the A.L. and are judged on proper English structure, accuracy, extent of information and originality. Students must complete the essay to all

specifications and turn it in to guidance by mid January. A committee will select the winner to represent Pottsgrove High School for the early February deadline

American Legion Oratorical Contest- (First place- $7,500)- The contest will consist of two parts. (A) An 8-10 minute, memorized oration will be given on some phase of the US Constitution. (B) A 3-5 minute extemporary oration on one of the four “assigned topics” assigned by National Headquarters. (Applications are mailed to the guidance office and are available in late November with a deadline to the local post in mid-January). Students are responsible for preparing all materials and getting them into the hands of the local AL post.

**American Legion of Pottsgrove Post #244 Americanism Award- (medallion, pin, certificate) seniors, who have or have had family members in a military branch of service or who are planning to enter a military service organization or ROTC. Students must pick up an application in guidance in early April, complete application and essay and return to guidance for the early May deadline.

American Welding Society Scholarship- ($500)- (Students can apply for both the section and district scholarships and are both included- seniors who have a real interest and desire to advance his/her education and training in the field of welding or materials joining or welding intensive education……metallurgy, chemistry, physics, engineering, blue-print reading etc. and must be a US citizen. Students must complete application and gather all necessary paperwork and return all to the address provided by the deadline. (Applications are typically available in guidance in mid-January and have a deadline of early March.

Anna M. Vincent Scholarhip- ($1,000 to $5,000 renewable)- seniors with financial need, excellent grades, good character, held a paying job while in school. Applications can be found on-line at www.annavincent.org and the student must secure a letter of recommendation. Applications are available in late January and are due very early March.

The Ardent Credit Union Scholarships- seniors, accepted by an accredited two or four-year college, university, trade, technical or business school. Complete an application on-line at ardentcu.org/scholarships Deadline: late March.

Asian American Nursing Scholarship- seniors from Asian Heritage, who have financial need, are accepted into an accredited Nursing

program, have a willingness to work post graduation at Methodist for 3 years and write an essay focused on the reasons for selective a nursing career. Students must pick up an application in the guidance office (available in April and all applications and materials must be prepared by student and mailed by the June deadline).

Asian American Women’s Coalition Cecilia Moy Yep Scholarship- ($5,000)- seniors, Asian American female students who excelled in her studies in high school, pursuing an undergraduate education, have a 3.0 (B) GPA, demonstrate financial need. Students must gather and provide all necessary materials for the committee and follow instructions for submission. (Applications are typically available in late January for a mid-March deadline.

Aspiring Animation Professions Scholarship- $1,000 for seniors pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary college. Visit www.animationcareerreview.com for full details.

Aspiring Fashion Professions Scholarship- $1,000 for seniors pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post secondary college. Visit www.fashion-schools.org for full details before the early June deadline.

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship- $1,000 for high school senior pursuing nursing. Must have an excellent academic track record, particularly in science and math and a passion for nursing and overall healthcare. Go to www. nursingschoolsalmanac.com for an application. Deadline is late August.

Aspiring Pharmacy Technician School- $1,000 for seniors interested in pursuing a pharmacology career path at an accredited post-secondary college. Visit www.pharmacytechnicianreview.com for full details before the early June deadline.

Automotive Training Center Scholarship- seniors interested in attending ATC should plan to take the scholarship test at a time designated. There are multiple test dates throughout the year. Students should visit the website at www. autotraining.edu for more information and test dates and times for scholarship eligibility.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship- ($2,000)- seniors pursuing higher education, who have ambition and drive, determination to set and reach goals, respect for self, family and

community, and the ability to succeed in college. Students must go on-line to

www. axa-achievement.com for scholarship applications and requirements. Students are responsible for securing the appropriate evaluations, recommendations and materials to complete the application. Students must have all materials prepared by the deadline and forward those materials to the address provided. (Deadline for this scholarship is typically mid-February).

(B)

Beneficial Scholars Program Scholarships- (one $20,000 and one $5,000)- high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited higher education institution. Must complete an essay provided by Beneficial (example: “What is the most important issue facing your larger community or your specific neighborhood and how would you act as a force for good in responding to this concern?” (Applications typically sent to guidance office in late October with a mid-December deadline.) Student is responsible for mailing all necessary materials to address provided by the deadline.)

B. Davis Scholarship- ($1,000)- juniors and seniors, essay less than 1,000 words responding to the following: What do you consider to be the most important issue that society has to deal with in the next 10 or 20 years? Why do you think this issue is so important? Visit the website for details: www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships Scholarship opens in April with a late May deadline.

BIE Robert T. Palladino Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000)- seniors who have exhibited potential to succeed in a building trades career, is involved in the community and has a “C” scholastic average or better. Students can pick up an application in guidance sometime in late February. Student must complete application and gather all necessary materials and mail to the address provided by the early April deadline.

BigSun Scholarship- ($500)-seniors athletes who succeed in their academic pursuits and who are continuing their education. Students

must go on-line for all rules of participation and to apply: (typically opens in November)

Black Women’s Educational Alliance Academic Minority Scholarship- seniors, continuing education; GPA of 3.0 (B); students must complete an application and gather all necessary materials. Applications can be secured in the guidance office in late January and students must mail all materials by the late March deadline.

Berks Technical Institute Scholarship- seniors interested in attending BTI should plan to take the scholarship test at a time designated. There are multiple test dates throughout the year. Students should visit the website at www. berks.edu for more information and test dates and times for scholarship eligibility.

Best Buy Scholarships- for students in grades 9-12. Apply on-line at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com Deadline: Mid-February

Bounce Energy “Be More” Scholarship- ($2,500)- current high school students, minimum GPA 3.0, PA resident. Complete a 500 word essay and application on line at:http://www.bounceenergy.com/scholarships Applications are typically available at the beginning of April and have a late May deadline.

Burger King Scholars Program- ($1,000, $5,000 and $25,000)- seniors who are actively employed at least part time (do not have to be employed by Burger King), planning on continuing education must visit the website at

www. haveityourwayfoundation.org/burger_king_scholars_program.html Students are responsible for providing and securing all necessary information.

Buick Achievers Scholarship- ($25,000 and $2,000)- seniors who will be enrolling for full-time study as a first-time freshmen at a 4-year college or university, plan to major in one of the following: Math, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or Design and are

interested in a career in the automotive or related industries. Students must go on-line at www. buickachievers.com for the application and instructions. Students are responsible for all materials.

Cecilia Moy Yep Scholarship- ($1,250 for four years)- senior Asian American female students who have excelled in her studies or other fields of endeavor and plan to continue education, 3.0 GPA, financial need, extracurricular activities and community service. Students can pick up the application at the end of February and collect all necessary materials and mail by the late March deadline provided.

**The Charles R. Graham Scholarship- (varies from $100 to $2,000)- is given annually to a student in the Pottsgrove High School graduating class who plans to prepare for a professional service occupation in health care, criminology, or social service. Priority will be given to candidates who will study criminology. Students must pick up application form in the beginning of April in guidance, complete form and provide proof of acceptance. Deadline to return form to guidance office is the beginning of May.

Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship- ($20,000 and $10,000)- seniors who demonstrate leadership in school, a commitment to community, show academic achievement and are employed part-time. Students must go on-line at http://www.coca-colascholars.org and apply on-line. Deadline is October 31st each year.

The College JumpStart Scholarship- up to $1,500 to 10-12 graders and is a merit-based scholarship; students must be legal residents of US and attend a college in US in major of choice. Apply on-line at:

www.jumpstart-scholarship.net by mid-April deadline.

Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship- seniors pursuing careers in agriculture must go on-line at www. monsanto.com or www.nafb.com for information and application.

Console & Hollawell Legal Leaders ($1,000) & Paralegal ($500) Scholarships- seniors planning on studying law, paralegal, legal assistant, court reporting or other law related field at a two-or-four college, community college, technical or business school in the US.Visit the website: www.consoleandhollawell.com

Pottstown Police Officers’ Assoc./Greg Boyle Memorial Criminal Justice Scholarship- a $500 scholarship to seniors from Pottsgrove, Pottstown, OJ Roberts, Spring Ford and Boyertown, planning to major in the criminal justice field, preferably in the law enforcement area. Princeton Prize in Race Relations- ($1,000)- high school students doing outstanding work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations.
