As winter weather approaches we want to make sure you know about cancellations. Check our website www.pothe.org. We have a cancellations box on the front page that has the most up to date information. Let us know if you want to get an email when weekday Mass is cancelled.

If you know of someone who does not have a computer, please buddy up with them and let them know of cancellations by giving them a phone call.

We extend a warm welcome to Joe Williams who has enthusiastically accepted the role of Office Manager & Communications Director for our Parish. Joe has worked in communications for the past ten years and was previously the Production Editor for BustedHalo.com, a young adult outreach of the Paulist Fathers. While there he

specialized in producing videos and other content that taught Church teachings and catechism in modern and relevant ways. Originally a Texas native, Joe spent time teaching on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona before becoming an education volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in South Africa. He moved to Maine from New York City with his wife in 2015. Since then they have been enjoying beautiful Maine summers, camp lake life in Central Maine and raising their toddler son. He is excited to use his talents and experiences to enhance the mission of our parish and connect with the community. Joe is a wonderful addition to our staff and parish!

IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER WE AS CATHOLICS REMEMBER OUR DECEASED… All of those recently departed who celebrated a funeral in our parish over the last year will be remembered at

A MEMORIAL BOOK OF INTENTIONS… will be at each church during the month of November.

Please enter the names of your deceased loved ones. We

will include a petition for the souls of all those written in

the book at all masses during the month of November.

ALL SOULS ENVELOPES… can be found in the pews. We will use these as Mass

intentions throughout the year.

Dear Parishioners,

We have completed our increase offertory campaign for the year and I want to thank everyone who took the time to prayerfully reflect on their donation to the parish. At the time of this writing, we have calculated all the cards and we have 282 families responding; out of the 282, 237 families said that they would be willing to increase their weekly offertory. Melissa, our business manager, has put the numbers together and the estimated number is a $2,765 increase each week. We are so grateful for your trust in us and in the ministry that we do here in the parish. This will help us plan for the parish budget.

We are starting to work on our goals for this coming year. This week we spent time reflecting on how we can foster Catholic culture here in the parish and in the home. Hopefully, over the next few weeks, you will notice our attempt to provide materials and suggestions that are practical and meaningful as you live your faith at home and at work. In the end, we know that it is about having a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus and we are committed to focus on how this can happen today. Stay tuned for more to come.

Let us pray for the victims and their families in the horrific event that happened at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. The eleven souls whose lives were taken just because they were Jewish touches all peoples of faith. We as a community have to deal with the violence against the innocent in our country. Let us pray that the message of Jesus and his promise that he said to his Apostles and we hear at Mass will become a reality. He said to his apostles, “Peace I leave you, my peace I give you.”

Finally, I am sure that if you did not see the 60 Minutes program on our former Bishop Malone, who is now in Buffalo, NY, at least you heard about it. It is a sad situation all around that they are having to go through this, and my heart goes out to the Catholics in the diocese. Even the everyday Catholic who is not involved in any of this is affected by the struggles going on there. Let us keep the people in the Buffalo diocese in our prayers as they try to resolve their problems. I do not know the whole story, but I know they are suffering and it will take a lot of grace and prayers to heal from it all.

Peace, Fr. Daniel

THIS WEEK’S THEME: Do I know the Commandments of Love? Scripture Background: This week’s Mass readings come together to remind God’s people (us) about the most important Command-ments of Love. The Jewish people of the Old and New Testaments prayed the “Shema” every morning and evening. At Mass today, we heard it recited by Moses in the Old Testament reading and then by Jesus in the Gospel. It is a prayer which expresses the Jewish peo-ple's deep faith in and love of God above WE PRAY: This week, we will pray the Shema every morning and

every night together. WE TALK: Do I begin and end each day speaking & praying to

God? Can I practice this until it becomes a habit? What are some ways I can keep God’s 2 great Commandments?

WE ACT: We will brainstorm ways to solve a problem that might exist in our family, community, school, or country by living out the 2 great commandments.

31st SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Our liturgical season’s color is GREEN.
