We could say:- looking at the figures of adoption of LAC for the years 2010-2014 the age of children at adoption is spread out approximately 3% under 1, 70% 1-4, 24% 5-9, and 3% 10 and over.- total number of children adopted per year during that period varied between 3100 and 5000- projecting these figures backwards and taking 3500 as being an indicative estimate of average total number of adoptions of LAC per year, the number of adopted children who are ex-LAC in the age range 11-24 is1994-1997 assume all under 5s who were adopted ie. 73% of 3500 pa, a total of 2555 children pa x 4 years = 10,220the oldest in this group will be 24 and the youngest 17.1998-2002 assume all under 5s and an increasing proportion of under 10s. (Under 6 first year, under 7 next year etc). So over the five years on average 85% (ie 3% plus 70% plus half of 24%) of 3500 each year giving a total of 2975 children pa, a total of 14875 2003 assume 1-4s and 5-9s (70% plus 24%) so 94% of 3500, a total of 3290 children now aged between 12 and 242004-2007 assume a decreasing proportion of 1-4s and all 5-9s (half of 70% plus 24%) so 59% of 3500 giving 2065 for 4 years , a total of 8260 age 12 to 24 now2008 to 2012 assume a decreasing proportion of all 5-9 year olds (half of 24%) so 12% of 3500 giving 420 for 5 years, a total of 2100 young people now aged 12-24.Grand total 38745
