Modernism is also rejected the certainty of Enlightenment thinking, and many modernists rejected religious belief.

Some commentators define Modernism as a socially progressive trend of thought that affirms the power of human beings to create, improve and reshape their environment with the aid of practical experimentation, scientific knowledge, or technology.

The dominant trends of industrial Victorian England, were also opposed, from about 1850, by the English poets and painters because of their "opposition to technical skill without inspiration

Baudrillard's Theory: media creates such idealistic representations of reality

Hyper reality- not sure whether it's real or artificial

Simulation- is when the media represents reality in a more visual and interactive way

Due to the distinctions between media and reality collapsing

However- negative effectThe audience is left feeling depressed as their own life

doesn't live up to this artificial reality

WHAT IS POSTMODERNISM ?

Bricolage - Something made or put together using whatever materials happen to be available.

So for example with films when there is hybridity such as RomCom that's bricolage because it's putting two things together that already exist.

HOW DOES POMO DIFFER FROM MODERNISM?

Modernism is all about new trends, changes and ideas coming from our minds and not being influenced by anything. So it's about being creative. Whereas postmodernism is everything is changing and judge by the media so it's being less creative and everything is defined by the media.
