AnalysisThe video starts with Rita Ora and her boyfriend (played by Michael Madsen) entering a diner., where he then steps on a black widow spider, linking to the title and introducing the audience to the song. Iggy Azalea works as a waitress named Fox. When she takes the man’s sandwich to him and he starts complaining , the owner shouts at the waitress and there is an intertexual reference to the song ‘what does the fox say’ when she yells “what does the fox say? Nothing”.

When Iggy goes to make another sandwich, she starts to daydream. This is when the parody of the film ‘Kill Bill’ is shown as both artists are shown in jumpsuits, similar to the character Uma Thurman. The plo t is also similar as both womEn seek out revenge against the man played by Michael Madsen who was also in the original movie!

Analysis Throughout the next scenes, the style of ‘Kill Bill’ is displayed through the type of fighting and training as well as the type of weapon they use with the words ‘black widow’ shown across the blade to further promote the song. The famous female character is also portrayed as both artists have blonde hair (as Rita wears a blonde wig). The entire video emphasises girl power through the way they are both controlling and strong females.

At the end of the video, the man is in fact ironically killed by being bitten by a black widow spider. The meaning behind black widow is a woman who is married to/in a relationship with a man just to get money and gifts from him. It refers to the black widow spider, because the female kills the male after being fertilized.
