Who would be the audience for your media product?

•The audience for the poster would be people of the public who buy and read whatever magazine the poster would be in. For example, after discussion, we decided that the type of magazine that the poster would feature in is a rock genre specific magazine, such as ‘NME’ or ‘Kerrang’. The reason why we decided on rock magazines, over all other music magazine genres is because the soundtrack to our music video is ‘Bicycle Race’, made by Queen the rock music group. The song is of a Rock/indie genre. • Through audience research, the main age group that buy and read these magazines are teenagers and adults aged 16-25.

• Apart from our audience research, we target the age group of 16-25 because they are aware and up to date with the modern teenage trends, which we include in our poster, such as shoe laces.

• Our audience, presumably could be specifically, a person who is a fan of rock, and like BMX bicycles. This is because the theme of the poster, and the whole music video project is BMX bikes so someone who is a big fan of BMX bikes, a possibly rides a BMX bike, will be interested in the poster. The poster has several images of BMX bikes in different designs.

• Therefore, it would have to be someone who likes rock, to buy the magazine and see the poster, and someone who is interested in bikes, and modern trends to be captured by the poster. This would be the ideal example of our target audience for the poster.

• The audience can however be anyone who likes, and is interested in the poster.

How did I attract my target audience?

• I attracted my target audience in several ways with my poster.

• The main way I attracted audience was with the use of BMX bike images. My target audience consists of people who are fans of BMX bikes and having images of BMX bikes increased my chances of attracting my target audience.

• Another example is the use of effects and bright colours. The background is yellow, and the title on the poster, ‘THE MANDEM ft QUEEN’ is in a mixture of blue and red. So there is a clear contrast between the yellow and the blue and red. This is to catch the eye of the viewer, so when they are flicking pages through the magazine, the contrast of bright colours catches their eye.

How did I attract my target audience?

• Additionally, I have added effects to the BMX images on the poster so they also contrast with the yellow background. I have done this using the gradient overlay. From my audience research, many people said the having the BMX images jus plain black is too basic and not catching their eye, so I explored the editing software and added effects.

• For attracting the teenagers of our target audience, I included a crown above the title. This is because today,
