Poster analysisAfter analysing several posters in class and at home

we were given the task of creating our own, to begin I attempted two rough drafts on paper

These needed to include the conventions of a film poster such as: title, cast, billing block, date, a motto and website. Some are present in the poster on the right while the rest are present on the left.

First draft

photo shoot

After this I needed to take a variety of photos of the main actor, as one draft shows a split personality to him I decided to organize the photo shoot and have him bring a change of clothes so that his different personalities were more obvious. Below are some examples of photos taken.

An example of his positive personality An example of his negative personality

First computer draftdevelopment

After the first draft and photo shoot I took evidence of the development stage of my first draft.

I began by adding all of the text and conventions from the draft but had to change the original image idea because merging the two faces into one created a distorted image. After this first draft we reviewed the posters in class before making changes for a second draft.

Second draft poster

Company name displayed to show importance

Bold film title clear from a distance, the letter “o” contains a miniature clock with the key time “11:57” shown, while it is hard to notice it adds subtle clues to the poster.

The actors name and dual appearance shows he is well known as well as the main star of the film and is likely a key character

The character is shown twice, once where he appears normal and a second time where he appears to be in distress, a pair of wedding rings looped together are also displayed to hint that marriage plays a part in the plot.

The motto is shown which links to the image of time and hints at what's involved within the films plot.

A conventional billing block is shown along with a date for the summer aimed to target those with time off at that time such as higher education students or teachers, a website is also displayed to show additional information on the film and to meet all of the codes and conventions.
