Capilano University
University Transfer Students are admitted based on their GPA: English 12 and three other academic grade 12 courses. Each Career Program has specific admission requirements.

service to almost every post secondary institution in BC You can create an account/revisit the site Once you have applied on line, you will receive instant
notification your application has been received by the intended school
Universities no longer accept paper applications You can apply to multiple post secondary institutions You will need to select a faculty and a back up faculty in
case you do not meet the grade point average for admission You will need a credit card to pay the application fee Some post secondary institutions may also request a
transcript be sent to them before your term marks are in, if this is the case, follow these instructions
University When you apply to the Universities, you are
applying to a specific Faculty Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Social
Sciences, Faculty of Commerce (Business Administration), etc.
Each Faculty will have its own admission requirements and grade point averages
Transfers between Faculties are allowed Each course you take is generally worth 3 credits A normal course load is 15 credits per term/semester
which is 5 courses, 30 credits generally from Sept-April 30th
At the end of 4 years or 120 credits (approx 40 courses), you graduate with an undergraduate degree from your Faculty ie. Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in History
You can continue on and complete a Postgraduate degree

Self –Reporting MarksThe Universities require students to self report grades, an initiative that allows students to report their marks over the Internet.

All offers of admission will be based onsecond term marks. The ministry will verify all marks in May
LPILanguage Proficiency Index The LPI is an examination that provides the Universities/Colleges
with a way to determine a student’s competence in summary and essay writing
The essay portion of the exam will determine the student’s eligibility for first year English courses
The LPI is not an “admission requirement” but a requirement to register for first year English courses. Check with the faculty or program, you are interested in.
It costs $108.00 to register & write the exam

Kwantlen and Langara have their own language proficiency exam which is less expensive
LPI The following English marks are required to be
exempt from writing the LPI .
UBC Vancouver – English 12: 75% Final or blended mark, or 80% Term 2

SFU – English 12: 75% Final blended mark UVic – English 12: 86% Final blended mark, recommends all

various Career Programs (1-2 year Certificate & diploma programs)
Langara, Douglas, Vancouver Community College and Capilano University – can register for any University level courses that does not have Pre Calculus 11 as a pre-requisite & various Career Programs
After completing 24 credits (8 courses) of Post Secondary Studies, you can transfer to a University (Faculty of Arts) without having to complete Pre Calculus 11

Requires a language 11 for all Faculty’s
UBC Okanagan does not require a language 11 UVic
Faculty of Humanities is the only Faculty that requires a language 11
SFU Will accept a beginners language 11 for all Faculty’s
Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Douglas College, Langara College and Capilano University have no second language requirements
*Note that there are some exceptions, to the Language requirement, if you have a learning disability.
