• **NEW** ASU Barrett Honors College Priority Deadline is Nov. 15th!
• Community College - Apply Spring 2012 unless doing dual enrollment – then you will have already applied!
• Apply to MOST colleges by November 1st – don’t put this off to the last minute!
• FAFSA (financial aid) deadline date is typically around March 1st.

Hamilton High School Career Center has over 30 colleges visiting them each fall. Sign up online at Hamiltonhuskies.com – at the Career Center website OR see Mrs. Lytle.
Remember! Many times the representative at the college visits is the same person reading your applications! You want to make a good impression on that person.
Our in-state colleges will visit monthly. Plan on visiting with them at least once to make sure you have everything done that needs to be done!

• Test Scores – ACT or SAT
• Personal Statement (if required)

Teacher/Counselor Recommendations
• Use the college form if a teacher recommendation is required – give forms to teacher so they can have additional information about you to include in their letters.
• If applying via the Common Application, give the teacher a copy of the recommendation form, a list of the schools (with deadlines) and an envelope addressed to each school.
• Student should call the school to confirm the letter was received.
• For Counselor recommendations, see your counselor at least two weeks ahead of time. You need a personal meeting!

WRITING A PERSONAL STATEMENT
**A personal statement is your opportunity to address the admissions committee directly. A personal statement should let the committee learn more about you as an individual, in a way that statistics cannot.
HERE ARE SOME TIPS:
*Use an easy-to-read font
*Length = 1 – 2 pages max!
*Edit your work! GrAmMeR & speeling (00ps! spelling) are important!
