EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME AT JINR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME AT JINR On 18 January 2011, the JINR University Center

celebrated its 20th anniversary.

In 1991 JINR, MSU, and Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPI) jointly established the JINR University Centre (the UC).The first UC Director (1993 – 2005) Prof. S.P. Ivanova made a great contribution to the creation and development of the UC. In 1995, JINR's own postgraduate studies were opened, whose functioning is also entrusted upon the UC.

International chair “Nuclear physics, new materials and technologies” was opened on July 9, 2008 at the Gumilev Eurasian University on the basis of the DC-60 heavy ion cyclotron of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research Center.

JINR in cooperation with Dubna International University signed two 4-side agreement with Gumilev Eurasian National University (Astana) and Al-Farabi Kazhakh National University (Almaty).

During 2010-2011 academic year first 7 students from Kazakhstan were trained in the framework of these agreements and successfully defend their bachelor theses. They got two Bachelor diplomas: one from the Dubna University and another from their native University in Kazakhstan. Now all these students enter the Master Program at DIU and will continue their participation in the research teams at FLNR.

8 students (4 from GENU and 4 from AKNU) arrived to Dubna to be trained in the framework of the same program during the academic year 2011-2012.

The International summer student practice is organized in three stages from May till September. In 2011, the total number of students from 10 countries (Egypt, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovak Republic, Romania, Belorussia, South Africa and Ukraine) taking part in the Practice was 140 (114 in 2010 and 88 in 2009)

In collaboration with CERN the UC is organizing the scientific schools for the teachers from the JINR Member States. First and third schools held at CERN on November 2009 and 2010.

Second and fourth scientific school for the teachers held at JINR on July 2010 and 2011. Teachers from Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belorussia, Russia and Ukraine took participation in the schools.

Opinion of the pupilsIndeed excursion to the mind and soul. I do not regret the trip to

Dubna. ... impression was amazing, and so many unanswered questions. ... I would like to add that I really liked it, and I would like to return there, to work at JINR.

• Using of the experience in training bachelors and masters of Kazakhstan in educational programs for students from other Member States

• Opening of the Summer Student Practices for participation of young scientists from non-Member States and active involvement of the JINR laboratories in the preparation of these programs

• Update of the program for JINR fellowships and upgrade of the related infrastructure for receiving young scientists in Dubna

• Support of the UC activities for high school teachers from Member States
