The Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Florida Governor Rick Scott and the executive leadership team at DMS, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons,andfleetandfederalpropertyassistanceprogramsutilizedthroughoutFlorida’sstategovernment.TheDepartmentofManagementServicesisreliedupon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees in doing their jobs to serve our Floridians. Department of Management Services staff facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides toolsandtrainingtobolstertheefficiencyandeffectivenessofthestate’sworkforce. Reporting Relationships: The Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs irector reports to the Director of

Legislative Affairs who reports to the Chief of Staff. The Chief of Staff reports to the Secretary of the Department of Management Services. The Secretary is a direct report to the Governor.

Position Responsibilities: SpecificresponsibilitiesoftheDeputyDirectorofLegislativeAffairswillinclude,

but not be limited to, the following:• Act as liaison between the Department and members of the Legislature,

Cabinet, stakeholder groups and respective staff.• Responsible for assisting with the development, coordination, and

communicationoftheDepartment’slegislativeandbudgetpriorities.

• CoordinatestheDepartment’simplementationofstatutorychanges,budgetand proviso language directives.

• Facilitate timely and accurate responses to request for information from the Legislature, staff and constituents across the state.

• Coordinate and manage high-priority projects involving numerous key parties.• Attend and represent the Department in Legislative committee meetings.• Track, monitor and coordinating bill analysis for legislation of potential impact

to the Department. • Schedule and organize the legislative affairs calendar and travel.

CandidateProfileExperience: TheDeputyLegislativeAffairsDirectorshouldpossessthefollowingqualifications:

• Atleastthreeyears’experienceworkinginFlorida’sExecutiveorLegislativeBranches of government.

• Atleastthreeyears’experienceprovidingsupportandreports(verbalandwritten) to senior management or department head.

• Ability to produce professional/executive level written work products.• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.• Familiarity with interfacing with executive level professionals in the public or

private sectors.• ExperiencewithFlorida’sPublicRecordsLaw.• ExpertisewithLobbyToolsandMicrosoftOfficeSuite.• Abilitytoinfluenceandmotivateinterestedparties.• Ability to register as a Florida lobbyist and represent DMS before legislative

branch.• Ability to appropriately prioritize multiple high-priority projects and meet internal

and external deadlines.• ProficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeSuiteandMicrosoftOutlook

Education: Completion of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university or
