benefited the renovation and expansion of the

Children’s Museum of Virginia and other museum

projects. Please see our website for retail sales

The Portsmouth

Museums Foundation

Foundation on July

28, 2009. All gifts

endowment will be

matched dollar for

dollar by the Batten

Educational Fund.

This fund will provide

ongoing support to the Children’s Museum of Virginia

and is in addition to the $1,000,000 gift from the

Batten Endowment Challenge.

This match has become a priority for our board

members. An Endowment for this wonderful facility is

part of our legacy to the City of Portsmouth and all of

Hampton Roads.

Tile Project Decorates

Birthday Party Rooms

Beginning in August of 2010 Portsmouth Museums

Foundation introduced the “Create A Tile” project which

raised almost $6,000 for our NEW Children’s Museum of

Virginia. Children and adults from Hampton Roads and

beyond completed personal tiles which were fired by

Color Me Mine and installed by Ellenor Tile & Marble,

making a stunning display in our Birthday Party Rooms.

Mosaic Tile Company provided the supplies and travertine

border. These rooms are now available for birthday

parties. Phone 757-393-8983 for details.
