Logos ProjectDate: February 21, 2015

Course, Instructor:Comm 130, Section 5, Ben Pingel

Programs:Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous de-signs.

Description:I have designed three business logos in Adobe Illustrator for “Presence Yoga.”

Process:I recruited a friend; Zoey Williams as my photographer. We did a yoga photo shoot. I then selected two pictures and placed them into Adobe Illustrator. After expand-ing the Illustrator document by 300%, I used the paintbrush tool for both of the yoga silhouettes. After filling in the large areas, I used the pencil tool for the smaller more detailed areas. I then cleaned up the edges with the eraser tool.

I used the pencil tool to create a chakra symbol which I have used in all three logo designs. I then took the eyedropper tool to create specific color schemes.

Process:On my second page I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my business card. I then copied/pasted the logo and contact information onto this page. I changed the logo and title sizes to fit the business card, but the contact information is the same size as the information on the letterhead. I made sure that

Description:A spiritual poster montage using images and type. Two or more images. Created by using a layer mask to blend images, with intermingled pixels and no hard edges.

Process:Using Adobe Photoshop on a 36 in Mac desktop I developed a message about journalism. After working through quite a few different sketch ideas, I developed the idea to share my spiritual thoughts of what it means to be a news writer. By selecting the proper scriptures for my piece, I then chose three images to portray a message.

PhotodesignDate: February 2, 2015

Course, Instructor:Comm 130, Section 5, Ben Pingel

Programs:Photoshop

Objectives:Learn basic photography skills.

Process:First I formulated my plan by choosing a color scheme from the Visual FOCUS book for my layout, I decided on Analogous. I was able to get great indoor light using the Spori studio. with good light, sharp focus, and nice composition. I used my 60D Cannon camera. I then brought the photo into Photoshop and used these specific editing techniques: levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. Then I design an 11 x 8.5 layout that included my photo, text, and repeating design elements. I incorporate my color scheme title, color swatches, and color names into my design. I used the eye dropper tool and adjusted the color in the color picker to match a little more accurately.

Description:This project demonstrates my ability to use indoor lighting as well as photography and image editing skills in Adobe Photoshop. The project also demonstrates use of repetition in the analogous color scheme.

Programs: Word

Objectives:Comprehend image sizing, how pixels and inches work together.Find, scan and import a high-quality image.Create a full-bleed design.Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Description:This is an event ad flyer. Using an Epson Perfection V500 Plus scanner, and Microsoft 2012 the flyer was carefully constructed using FOCUS design principles.

Process:Using an Epson Perfection V500 Plus scanner, and Microsoft 2012, I organized the needed elements of the focus design process to create an enticing design that would captivate a child’s eye, and encourage a parent to allow their child to enjoy a fun time with peers while serving with their own capabilities such as riding a bike to raise money for those who are overweight or obese. This even will also raise aware-ness for the children participating in the event. After scanning in a cartoon image, I sketched the event ad.

Description:Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference.

Process:First I created some sketches of my layout. Then I used my sketch as a guide to cre-ate this layout in Adobe InDesign. I used black boxes for repetition and contrast. I also emphasized one word in my title for more contrast, and to create a good focal point. I left white space and kept my body copy small. I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier.
