Museum of Contemporary Art

2010-presentvarious dimensionsspace intervention

Process of becoming a part of the permanent collection of the closed Museum of Contemporary Art of Belgrade.

InterventionSince 2007 the Museum of Contemporary Art of Belgrade is closed for reconstruction. In April 2012 I realized an intervention inside the space. The museum was especially reopen in the summer 2012 for an exhibition «what happened to the Museum of Contemporary Art», my worked was part of it, but i was not aware of it.

After the exhibition the museum closed again. The intervention is still in the museum, I had the opportunity to go back there several times. It has become a part of the building. One of the curators from the museum was making a joke: You actually entered the permanent collection of the museum..

Bim slavija

2012-presentworkshop, work in progressvarious dimensions

Bim Slavija was one of the most important meat production factories of former Yugoslavia, located in Belgrade.Since November 2012, I use a small ruined room belonging to this factory. This place is not a standard workshop. The space itself is the artwork.Up until now I have dug and picked over the soil, the leftovers that were piling up for so many years within the ruin. I rediscovered and resurfaced the ground, the foundations of the space. My intention was not to repair the site, I wanted to reveal it, do the archeology of it. I am reconstructing from the inside by deconstructing it. I use the elements around me, the remains of the factory. I built a roof and a small house inside the house, to cover the primary needs for the winter period. With no precise form, I keep a photographic trace of the different time spans the space is going through. Without knowing the landing point of this research, I advance.

The extinction angles

2015table: metal, concrete 12m long / 70cm large casts: plaster, wood various dimensions

The extinction angle is the measure between the cleavage direction or habit of a mineral and the extinction. In mineralogy it helps define rocks and their origin.

The casts made around stones, leftovers of different sculptures.

concrete sticksvarious lenghts (from 1 to 3m)

hand printed photos 20 x 25.5 cm

The fact of hand developing is important in the process, it is the light revealing the image. The photos from far away look like the black holes, in fact they are pictures of the foggy mountains. The sticks are by their weight stopping the photos from falling.

To appropriate

2015paper, wood, plaster, soil, metal, bricks, trees, prints, concrete, fabric,... various dimensions

A month long residency.

to appropriate -affect, assign, allocate, impinge, allot, devote, dedicate, consecrate, give, spare, assume, lay hold of, snatch, capture, seize, take over.No defined idea.Just a field of experimentation.Connected to the place, space, location. In between architecture.Part is a gallery. Part is under construction. Part is a field. Part is water.Month-long appropriation started by living there.

“In this case, experience means contact with the being and renewal of the self in this contact - a test, but one that remains undetermined”Jean-François Pirson
