CITY OF MERIDIAN
City Hall
Meridian, MS
OffiSource was selected to collaborate with a local architect to provide a furniture plan, selection, and specification of furnishings for a major restoration of the Meridian City Hall. As the project
designer, I completed a furniture plan and selected furnishings that celebrate the original character of the building and function successfully for the City’s employees. The First Floor features systems
based workstations, casegoods, and meeting spaces suited for internal activities.

City of Meridian – City Hall
The renovated Second Floor houses the departments that interact with the public. The architect’s concept was to create an atmosphere of openness. To enhance architectural elements such as generous glazing, i specified lower height panels to maximize sight lines and
employee visibility. A panel system with clean lines and minimal details was selected to contrast the traditionally detailed architectural elements. Private offices received casegoods that were reflective of the occupant’s role within the City Government. The Mayor’s suite
was completed with a formal Conference Room with custom storage cabinets.
The custom cabinetry I designed for the Mayor’s Conference Room was to house presentation boards and
drawing sets that are presented to the City for review. The cabinets were designed to complement the formality of the traditional conference furnishings.

The Third Floor includes offices and a conference room for the City Council and a multi-use area to be utilized for public meetings and private events. Similar in aesthetic to the Second Floor, furnishings were selected for private offices, a
conference room, and the auditorium.

The City of Meridian contacted OffiSource to complete a programming study, space plan and furniture specification for the Community Development Department. The department, which was moving from Pre-renovation City Hall to this location, includes four departmentsand twenty-one employees. The program required adjacencies between specific departments as well as varying levels of privacy for different positions. The receptionist stations required large areas for review of maps and plans with careful attention paid to personal safety. Additional spaces were allocated for a large conference room, copy area, and break area as well as restrooms and a custodial closet.

COMCAST CABLE
Comcast Cable Office
Jackson, MS
Drawings are the property of OffiSource, Inc. and are used by permission.
A local Comcast Cable office requested OffiSource provide a furniture plan for a reception area and private offices, a modification of the existing conference room, and finish selections. Below is the furniture plan I developed and at right is a drawing showing the enlarged dimensions for a build out in the conference room. The purpose of the design was to enclose an existing support column and provide a vertical surface for a wall-mounted flat screen television. Additionally I was asked to provide designs for signage to be used in the reception area and the conference room; drawings are shown at bottom right.

Lobby
Finishes for the lobby were selected to comple-ment the
existing brick walls and dark tiled floors. Vinyl wall-covering with a metallic sheen was specified to reflect the natural light that entered through the expanse of glazing at the back of the space. A reception station with a mail center added function and lounge chairs provide a comfortable waiting area.
Conference Room
Offices
A linear carpet and a metallic laminate for the custom build-out add depth and focus to the conference room. A transitional wood table adds warmth while Saarinenside chairs,
upholstered in Comcast red, provided an interesting mix of styles.

MSU RILEY CENTER Meridian, MS
Performing Arts, Conference, and Educational Center
This mixed use facility in the heart of downtown Meridian offers cultural and educational experiences for the local community and visitors from all across the Southeast. The center includes a restored Grand Opera House theatre, a studio theatre, and 30,000 square feet of meeting space. OffiSource was charged with selecting and specifying
furnishings that would compliment the restored interior. As the lead designer I worked closely with the staff of the Riley Center throughout the design process and was often called upon to complete the selections for additional finishes, including the upholstery for the fixed theatre seating shown at left.

The meeting spaces for the Center include a large Exhibit Hall as well as breakout rooms, a classroom, and Board rooms.
The furnishings for the Board rooms were selected to provide a functional space for business while maintaining the traditional style that celebrates the history of the building. The color scheme gives a nod to the center’s educational partner –Mississippi State University.
The furnishings for the Classrooms and Exhibit Hall had to be flexible as the Center hosts many different types of events. In addition to cultural and educational events, the Center is available for private parties. The banquet furnishings allow for both casual and formal needs while maintaining a coordinated aesthetic with the rest of the facility.

As the lead designer for the internal OffiSource team, my responsibilities included collaborating with the architectural firm during the programming phase, creating furniture specifications per the space plan provided, and assisting with project management. As an internal team, design, sales, customer service, project management, and our Knoll representative constantly monitored the project’s progression and evaluated decisions to be made by each department and their affects on other aspects of the project. We continuously communicated with the architectural firm and the end user to provide the best support and ensure client satisfaction. Our proactive approach allowed each phase to be successful and resulted in a great experience for our client and set the standard for future internal processes.
