BETTER REFRIGERATION RESEARCH
The refrigeration process requires the exchange of heat, just as the innovation process requires the exchange of ideas. This is achieved in refrigeration by passing a fluid through the arteries of the mechanism in such a way that it will interact with the entire device. These arteries are created through the use of open atria that connect all members of the team, and inspire collaboration and creativity.
The atrium spaces encircle the laboratories and clean room, which inspires creativity in the employees and provides a focus for their work. The labs are also glazed so the work being done inside can become a catalyst for innovation out of the lab. This also provides a unique space for the employees to meet and discuss projects and ideas.
From the outside, the building will reside subtly in the trees, and blend into the industrial neighborhood in which it is located. The atria, however, will provide an energizing experience for employees and visitors. The atria will also allow maximum sunlight penetration into the office areas while minimizing heat gain. The storm water retention pond on site will also be used as a heat sink for the building’s cooling system.

THE TWENTY
The TWENTY is a mixed-use cultural center and residential tower located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, FL. It includes a restaurant, a gallery, an intimate theater, space for continuing education classes, as well as sixty residential units and various amenities. It is situated on the corner of Laura St. and Adams St., allowing it to interact with the pedestrian traffic from both sides. The building only uses a small portion of the site; leaving the rest for future developments, and acting as a catalyst for future densification.
The first floor contains the gallery and restaurant, both of which are directly accessible from the sidewalk. The main entrance to the cultural center is at the northwest corner of the building; and opens into a monolithic stair that accesses the theater and classroom levels. On the eastern end is the residential entrance which includes security and private elevators. The second floor houses the theater, as well as a full bar and seating area. In the residential section, there is a gym, which also provides group exercise spaces on the third level. The third floor is otherwise occupied by the class rooms. The residential floors are divided into six units. These range from 900 to 1200 square feet, and offer both one and two-bedroom configurations. Some of the units on each floor also include a balcony.

THE EDGE
The EDGE is an urban live/work studiopolex consisting of twelve individual residences; a public gallery for the community, as well as separate space for each artist; and a workshop area with a cafe. This new urban EDGE was created on W. Boundary St., which is the border of the Savannah Historic District; dividing the site between public and private areas is one of the historic canals in the Savannah Green way System.
The east side of the site defines the street EDGE by raising the buildings above street level on an elevated plaza. This creates a new urban space while also rising above the traffic noise and flood plain level. The west side of the site contains the residences, which were modeled from the Savannah row house. Each unit has an open plan with a lofted second level, and a balcony.

MULTI GENERATIONAL HOUSING
The purpose of this project is to design a low income multi generational apartment complex, which includes a day-care, within the confines of a historic structure located at the corner of E. Broad St. and E. 39th St. in Savannah, GA. Elements of universal design were considered to allow the units to be designed for aging in place.
This project should also become a catalyst for revitalization of the neighborhood by providing defensible space; as well as bringing a new sense of community to the area. This project was also an exercise in hand skills; including drafting and rendering.
The program consists of ten apartments, both one and two bedroom, and a day-care for children living here. The roof of the day-care will be used to provide playground space for the day-care children.
