Personal detailsHello, please let me introduce myself. My name is jon smethurst, I am currently

based in the north west of england in a village called adlington which is around

half an hours drive to both manchester and liverpool. I’m married with four

children and had the blessing of turning 40 last year! I hold a current clean driving

license and haven’t succombed to the temptation or expense of tobacco

Educational QualificationsI have 11 O’levels (showing my age now!) in Art, English, Maths, Geography,

German, RE, Biology, Physics, Communication Studies, and History. After leaving

school I gained a DATEC diploma in general art and design, and then completed

my further eductaion with degree in graphic design..

Core SkillsI have worked in the design and advertising industry since 1988. I have since

worked in a variety of rolls from visualiser to head of design for a full service

agency in london. I believe my core skills which include advanced knowledge in

the usual programmes (quark, illustrator, photoshop & in design) are creativity,

attention to detail and having the flexibility to project manage work on a personal

or team level.

Employment History1988-1991: Visualiser at CAPRA manchester

working for the in-house advertising agency for the cooperative group, I produced

visuals for a variety of advertising campaigns and retail literature.

1991-1996: Senior Artworker at B&D design & print, leyland

working digitally heading up a small design team that produced a variety of printed

media from client contact through to pre-press.

1996-2000: Senior Designer, Heckford Advertising, Preston

working on a variety of projects and above and below the line accounts for the

county’s leading advertising agency.

2000-2004: Senior Designer, Woods Creative Design, Croston

working on accounts such as mercedes benz, crown paints and haven holidays I

was heavily involved in designing an implementing design and marketing media.

2004-2008: Head of Design, Eurekastep, London

working as head of design for a full service marketing agency I was responsible

for producing design for web and print for clients such as shell africa and the

houses of parliament.

What now?Since re-locating back from london in the spring, I have established a small

business; ezekiel design. I currently work with national and international christian

ministries and charities helping them to develop a contemporary look and

approach to events and publicity, but also take on other freelance projects.

I still work in a consultancy role for eurekastep (www.eurekastep.com)

A bit about meWhilst in the south east of england I studied part time for two years at kingdom

faith school of ministry. I graduated in 2006 and have diplomas in christian

discipleship and ministry. I also support blackburn rovers and can still be seen

crying into my bovril at a variety of grounds round the country!
