Johannesburg functions according to a variety of different urban elements that have contradictory origins. How-ever, these elements work together to create a single entity, the city. Based on this idea, the proposal follows the logic of the accumulation of archi-tectural spaces and design elements, combining a variety of scales.
The RecordHive is a data center that experiments with the music and sound of Jo’burg. As the city functions as fragmented elements, the building operates in the same manner.
One part of the building is dedicated to broadcasting music and the other part produces music. Moreover, the parts are dependant on each other.

RecordHive is not only a building but a new urban network, a series of architectural elements scattered throughout the city of Johannesburg. These kiosks have different purposes and scales.
The Trees are designed as street fur-niture. On the other hand, the Kiosks are mobile structure in constant movement.
All the music and sounds collected are documented in the hub and will be considered the heart of the Record-Hive.

Traveling population
The world we are living is in constant transformation; shift in political, social, economical and new technolo-gies have a huge impact on the way people live. One re-cent geographical transformation has been the increase of traveling populations.Nowadays, it has become common for families to live between different cities. This observation is the result of different facts, economical issue, cities disorders and family visits.A new form of nomadism is taking place in our society where a smartphone has become more essential than home. This project addresses how a designer can create a new form of property which spans between different major cities.

As a consequence of this moving population, vacancy has become a real issue in major cities. It is difficult for a certain class of people to have access to ownership in cities where almost one third of the buidlings are empty.
How can a designer find a solution for this nomadic lifestyle and offer the possibility for people to buy a property at an affordable price?
Based on an hypothetical two years cycle, the project explores how 6 families can all live together in the same building, but not always at the same time. People’s different schedules overlap, to fit as many people as possible in one building and avoid any vacancy.

Instead of sharing spaces, people will share own-ership. GypsyHouse gives the possibility to buy a small space in several cities.
Having a toilet in Berlin, a drawer in New York, and a shower in Paris becomes the new form of ownership. People are part of a community where they share with or without interacting.
Storages define the building. The individual is the only fixed element. From one storage to an-other, connections can be made through differ-ent organizations.

A set of storages is designed and installed in each GyspHouse. They are the same in every city but may be organized differently depending on the individual’s need.
These removable elements, made of wood may contain 1 to 5 properties inside. Different func-tions can be found in these units that can open up and close down to create a new floor plan every time.

Sound Analysis, Station Jaures, Hammam

The sound process consists of getting away from the noisy city in order to discover a quite sound ambiance.
The design is inspired by the movement of the skaters, bicycles and people. New kinds of spaces are created and become a real music show instead of being prone to urban noises and movements.

The Basin Station is not only a school or a skatepark, it is a real public place which everyone can enjoy.
Going to the spa means putting problems aside, and dedicating a few hours to the body. The visitor coming from the city to dive into an adventure through the sounds of water, light, steam and materiality.

MUSIC TOWER

Music Tower
Can architecture be heard ?
Ampli-gramme is a tower dedicated to Music and Sounds in the Massenat district in Paris. Situated between the Massenat Boulevard and the Ring Road, the tower recreates the sounds of the city.
The tower provides a Philarmonic, a Museum, a Music Academy and a Experimental Laboratory. The main goal is to break the borders, to bring together multi-functional buildings with the evocative sound of music.
The programs are blended together into one place dedicated to music.

This project is a restoration of two housings towers of 108 Housings. In order to fix the thermal performance, we added a new façade with a thermal insulation.
As a Junior architect, I drew the facade and prepared the Construction Document Set and consulted contrac-tors.

Reinterpret the Existing This restoration of 199 housings in 4 different buildings consists on an additional thermal façade, made of “Trespa” with an additional insula-tion. Furthermore, we restored all the 199 apartments to offer extra comfort.
As an assistant architect, I worked on the Construction Document Set and worked on the site to follow the con-struction. I assisted with the coordi-nation of meetings and schedules.

This is a 150m2 Surf house realized in Flori-anópolis, Brazil for a private client.
Florianópolis has a climate of tropic with strong variations in day length and temperature with season, tropical temperature remains relatively constant throughout the year and seasonal varia-tions are dominated by precipitation.
The limits between inside and outside spaces are blurred. The interiors are made of a concrete structure and the outside spaces such as the terrace is made of a wood structure.
The idea is to maximize the space in the shade to protect the client and his family from the sun and from the rain.

StreetFest Competition Through the invariable grid of the city of New York, how would you make a festival?
The Agora is a place of congregation, of meeting and gathering, it was used by the Greeks as an open space pro-viding a central urban place.
A large perimeter of stand would take place, as a translucent screen between the market and the city, to protect and hold the dynamic center. The plastic skin as a shimmering interface, which allows people to see the activities of both sides: the city and the streetfest.
From the moment you enter the space, the urban atmosphere is enliv-ened.
Storefront
The frame plays the roles of «walls» of the structure. Vertical rods are under compression forces and the horizontal rods create tension between two verticals to create a frame.
The roof provides protection from wind and rain.
The diagonal are in charge of the stifness of the frame, and of the overall structure.
Forces
Various forces are aecting the structure such as compression, reaction, tension. Here are represented compression forces (balanced by the reaction of the oor), due to the weight of the overall structure.

Gypsy CommunityThe Gyspy Community in Europe has become a problem over the years in bigger cities like Paris.
These “gens du voyage” keep living outside city borders, traveling from one city to another one. They have totally different life styles and tradi-tions. Considered as robbers, citizens don’t ac-cept them, which create a lot of tension around their campsite.
The In-Out Box is a cubic steel frame wrapped with local material in order to add room and outdoor spaces to the caravans where the fami-lies live. It is suited to the Gypsy way of life as it can be dismantled and used for different pur-poses (laundry, coffeeshop).
The project can’t reduce the tension around the political issue but offer extra comfort to this population without interfering with their custums.

Chrono-HousePeople who used to once be sedentary come back to a nomadic life style. A new form of no-madism is been creating and becomes more and more important.
Chrono-House introduces speed and time as a tools to create spaces. Architecture has a rhythm and a tempo which people interact with.
Speed = Space / Time
Every part of the house has a dynamic by allow-ing every space to be defined by nomads and their environment.

The project is inspired by the paper accordion. A modular element that is part of a whole structure varies in shape and size as it stretches out over the corner.
The Accordion façade is an outer shell infrastructure that covers up the existing building. The purpose of the façade is to work as a louver system to control light and air but also to pro-vide canopy effect for the street level as the structure extends outwards at the ground level.
