GOLF & SPA RESORT SPA PAvILIOnS Under the supervision of IDC Partners, I participated in the design of numerous world themed spa pavilions and spa villas. After initial design, I produced construction drawings and detail designs for exterior and interior elevations and dealt with onsite construction issues during site visits with client and contractors. In addition to spa pavilions I developed design for spa pools and landscape features as well as furniture and lighting design. Design of Spa Pavilions on this volcanic island often utilizes lava stone from excavation for at base and walls and bamboo, a traditional Chinese building material.

THE PROvIDEnCE SOUnDS WALKThesis RISD 2010This project explored the connection between sound and space. Urban noise affects how we hear and experience the spaces we inhabit. This work creates a space of practice for the amateur musician to be heard within our daily urban environment. Playing and listening within a city soundscape challenges the distinction between practice and performance, amateur and professional, everyday sound and music.

THE PROvIDEnCE SOUnDS WALKThesis RISD 2010The Providence Sound Walk explores the role of practice and performance in soctiety, by creating within the sounds and spaces of the urban community, the same opportunities that new digital technologies have provided an amateur musician.

THE URBAn TIME MACHInEThesis RISD 2010The machine expresses the same ratios and proportions in space, time and pitch. The length of each tine corresponds to the length of each cog as well as the reverbaration chamber itself. Th e sound produced is a visual and aural mapping of community interactions; one that, at 1 revolution/second, willtake 19 years to repeat.

THE URBAn TIME MACHInEThesis RISD 2010An initial investigation of sound and space, the Time Machine was constructed as a physical and aural mapping of conversations that occurred within the community of Providence, RI. These discussions ranging in subject from avant-garde noise-artists to bicycle chain dimensions continuously reshaped the project, questioning the role of improvisation in design.

COMMUnITY PAvILIOnDesign/Build Studio, RISD This design build wintersession studio took place in Costa Rica. We went as volunteers to design and build a replacement bleacher stand in the public soccer fields of Cocles. We took the opportunity both to design a structure that would provide community gathering space beyond field seating and to engage the community in the process. We worked primarily with bamboo for the structure. The whole engagement was very much a group effort and my involvment was that of design consultant and builder.
