5.2.1 Installing and using

User guide - PortableRDC license server - Installing and using

The most easiest way to install PortableRDC license server in combination with the PortableRDC client is to

copy them both to the same share on a server. Start the PortableRDC license server and paste the license into

the inputbox on startup.

The PortableRDC server will creates default encryption keys, these files are necessary for the network

version and the client to communicate with each other and are needed to decrypt the passwords used in the

connection file. The server.key must exist in the same folder as the PortableRDCLicenseServer.exe.

Do not start the License Server from a network drive mapping. It's better to start it from a local

drive, more stable.

[Server]

IP=192.168.1.1(IP numberof the licenseserver, The license server will detect the first available and uses it)

Port=51013

SettingsPath= \\server\share\folder or use a drive mapping

PortableRDC license server needs to be started manually and the current version cannot be run as a system

service.

Don't forget to open the local firewall for TCP port 51013.

Page 26: PortableRDC4.1.3 Options GUI - Options Connection bar Show the remote desktop connection bar on top of the screen Use all displays PortableRDC will detect the amount of displays and

5.2.2 Client settings

User guide - PortableRDC license server - Client settings

Open PortableRDC.ini, it's located in the same folder as PortableRDC client.

Change the following :

[Network]

Network=YES (Enables network version and will retrieve the license from the license server)

Server=192.168.1.1(IP number of the license server)

ServerPort=51013 (Default value, can bechanged on the server side)

The PortableRDC client needs a file called Workstation.Key in the same folder as the client, this file is

generated by the license server.

• The client will retrieve the license from the license server.

• The client will retrieve the settings folder/share from the license server.

• If the client cannot connect to the license server it will give a warning and it will terminate.
