From Father Zach
Once the trees are all trimmed, the gifts have been placed and the meals are done;
we need to take a moment and pause and treasure the gift of Christmas.
Christmas time comes and goes but it’s the gift that lasts and stays with us.
The gift we receive at Christmas is Jesus the Christ child. This child becomes the
man who will bring salvation to the world. Jesus is God among us and reveals to
us God’s love.
Let’s not miss the moment this Christmas to express the blessings that God has
given us and use each and every day to live out the Spirit of Christmas reflecting
on the gift of Jesus in our hearts. In the upcoming New Year how can we create a
strong personal relationship with Christ. In the upcoming year may we look at
our personal prayer time and create a devotion to the Living Jesus of the
Resurrection in the Blessed Sacrament and by attending Mass that it may be a
place to deepen our devotion and also build up the Kingdom of God. May this
Christmas be a time of reflection of the intense love God has for us and may we
not forget to love God and neighbor back in return.
We thank everyone at Christ the King and Pope John XXIII who have made our
Christmas celebrations possible. From our Altar Servers, to the Sacristans, all our
musicians and choir members to Mark and Chris that have been practicing with
everyone for months. To the staff that have worked hard in making sure that
everything is in place and for a reward for their time of preparation, the parish
offices will be closed Thursday and Friday of this week so that they can spend
time with their families and friends their will also be no daily Masses Thursday or
Friday.
Our friends at Maurer’s Funeral Home have provided a Christmas gift of a
calendar for the parishes. Please take one home with you this weekend.
May the Christ Child bring you blessings this Christmas.
