Safe Haven LawThis law allows individuals to deliver an unharmed newborn 7-days-old or younger directly to an employee at any hospital, fire rescue station or emergency medical station that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The process is anonymous and the individual will not be in trouble.

Making A Difference (M.A.D.) Presented by TPPA though Heartland Rural Health Network The Making A Difference Program is an abstinence only approach to unintended pregnancies, STDs and HIV among adolescent populations. M.A.D offers more than a “Just say No” message. The program teaches youth the importance of establishing personal values, setting boundaries, goal setting and positive self-esteem. The goal is to provide the knowledge and skills to resist peer pressure, to postpone sexual activity, have a positive attitude toward abstinence and lead a healthy, happy life. The M.A.D. program is for youth in middle and high school. It is taught in eight sessions or can be adjusted based on the need of the program. Services:WAIT is a positive, fun, interactive curriculum for character and relationship development, abstinence and marriage preparation. The classes use a positive approach to present the topic of sex, without putting anyone down. It offers students who have already been sexually active the opportunity to make a fresh start.

The WAIT Training curriculum is adaptable to different age groups and audiences. It can be presented in a variety of settings and also includes a parent training component. WAIT Training is a perfect program for all groups because this program doesn’t just teach abstinence. Various training schedules are available including 1 ½ to 2-hour presentations, a six day unit, parent training and civic organization presentations.

Polk Safe Haven Coalition

The Polk Safe Haven Coalition is a collaborative network of individuals and organizations dedicated to providing help and direction during all stages of pregnancy.

The coalition is working to better connect the community with pregnancy resources through the confidential Safe Haven for Newborns resource helpline and website.
