    Applications of MELDIN® 7000

Our MELDIN® 7021 self-lubricating polyimidematerials meet or exceed the most stringentrequirements for aerospace applications. Backed up by third-party independent testing, the MELDIN® 7021 material grade provides our customerswith consistent mechanical and performanceproperties for aircraft airframe systems such aslanding gear and fuselage components, as well as jetengine parts such as pads, bumpers, washers, seals, and bearings.

Semi-conductor manufacturing customers require processequipment whose materials have high purity, high resistanceto solvents, oils, and other process chemicals, and highelectrical insulative properties — all combined with theability to hold dimensional features over a wide temperaturerange. The MELDIN® 7001 unfilled resin grade fulfills allthese requirements. Available as finished machined parts, orin basic shapes (ask about our 12" x 12" plates), MELDIN®7001 will add value to your production.

MELDIN® 7001 materials are direct formed and machinedfor use in critical plasma cutting torches in the torchhandle. These torches create high energy vortex gasstreams, and MELDIN® 7000 parts distribute these gasesprecisely due to their inherent dimensional stability andmachinability. Also, other parts in the torch handleinsulate high electrical energy from the user, ensuringsafe operation. High impact resistance increases theuseful life of this equipment as compared to ceramicalternatives.

For the manufacturer of specialty glass containers, the process required a low friction, high temperatureresistant surface that would not cause cracking orvisual damage while the containers slid across thesurface. A unique hole pattern was developed toprovide a controlled cooling operation for thecontainers. MELDIN® 7022 was chosen due to itshigh geometric stability and ability to provide asmooth sliding surface without causing anydamage to the glass.

MELDIN® 7001 unfilled polyimide grade was used as athermal insulator in a hot runner nozzle for an injectionmolding machine. Designed especially for molding thehighest temperature materials, the hot runner nozzlerequired a tip that thermally insulated the molten plasticfrom the nozzle housing while preventing a color transfer ofthe molten plastic onto the nozzle tip. This allowed the userto quickly change the resin colors without having todisassemble and change the nozzle.

MELDIN® 7211 is used in critical hydraulic and hotgas piston ring applications because of its hightemperature resistance and low friction, particularlyagainst soft metals like aluminum and stainlesssteel. In addition, the custom piston ring overlapdesign minimized leakage and improved overallefficiency of this self-lubricating ring seal.
