From Coppers to Diggers The stories behind the names

listed on the Roll of Honour in

the SPC foyer are finally being

    told. From Coppers to Diggers

    outlines the military service of

police who served in WWI as well

    as in other conflicts between

    1885 and 1976.

This is a sequel to Service in

    Two Uniforms, which featured

    the military service of police

during WWII. Now in his early

    80s, author Brian Inman started

working for the NSWPF in 1951

when he was 15 and worked

with a number of officers listed

    on the Roll of Honour.

    Copies of From Coppers to

    Diggers are available for $15

    plus postage by contacting Brian

Inman on ph: 9634 5398. All

    proceeds will go to Legacy.

PTC’s tunnel tours A tour of abandoned train

    tunnels under the Sydney

    CBD allowed a group of

    sergeants from Police Transport

    Command’s North Central Sector

    to identify access points being

    used by rail vandals.

    Glenn Boyd from the Rail

    Emergency Response Unit

    guided the tour and explained

the history of the tunnels, which

date back to the early 1900s.

    PTC North Central Sector

    Commander, Supt Jason

    Joyce said he welcomed the

    opportunity to hear about both

    the historical and contemporary

    use of the tunnels.

    criminal group allegedly importing

    ice from Asia. After further

a Toyota Kluger after it left a

    property in Burwood.

    Inside they found a suitcase

    allegedly containing 10kg of ice

sealed in a number of packages.

More drug tests in the West Traffic & Highway Patrol

    Commander, Assistant

    Commissioner John Hartley

toured the state’s west in June

    to discuss drug driving and

road safety in the Mudgee and

    Canobolas areas.

    During random drug tests

over one June weekend, one in

    every six drivers tested positive

in Mudgee, while one in three

tested positive in Orange – the

    worst result in the state.

    “Obviously people don’t think

they can get caught out here,

    that central western NSW is

    not getting attention,” Assistant

    Commissioner Hartley said.

    “We’ve increased our drug tests

    from 30,000 to 65,000 a year, and

    that will increase to 100,000.”

    The drug tests detect whether

    a driver has cannabis, ecstasy

    or methylamphetamines in

    their system.

Murder charge for OMCG president The president of the Windsor

    been charged with murder.

In July last year, 29-year-old West

    Gosford man Laurie Starling was

shot at his business and died at

    the scene. Detectives from the

    Homicide Squad and Brisbane

    Supported by the Tactical

    Operations Unit, detectives

    entered a home in Kingswood

at dawn on Friday 19 June 2015

    and arrested the 35-year-old

    Rebels president. They seized

steroids and other items from the

    Kingswood home, as well as

from a home in Quakers Hill.

Fishing for the future Shoalhaven LAC recently gave a

number of local kids the chance

to wet a line with local police, as

    part of the two-day program.

    Funded by our Crime

    Prevention Grants Program

    under the Aboriginal Strategic

    Direction, the event was primarily

    open to Indigenous children aged

12 to 16 who show the potential

    to be a young leader.

    In the Welcome to Country,

    Uncle Willy Dickson spoke

    about the importance of fishing

to the Aboriginal way of life.

    This was followed by talks

    on leadership and respect.

    More than 120 fish were

    caught including snapper,

    morwong and flathead. Program

    Coordinator, Insp Steve Johnson

said one of the kids said the

fishing trip was the best day

    of his life.

    been possible without help from
