Half term is here already! I hope you have a restful break and perhaps the sunshine will continue into next week!

All the best with their revision to our Year 11 and 13 students who are sitting exams – use this week to consolidate your knowledge and rest, ready for the rest of the exams next term.

As you will recall we have recently had photographs taken of each year group. The proofs of these photos are being sent home with students this week. They are really lovely photos and are an excellent momento of their time here at Polesworth. If you would like to order a copy then please can you complete the order directly with Gillman and Soame. Please don’t send orders into school as we cannot accept them.

The PE department would like to congratulate Ellie James and Bobbie Smith on receiving a place at Birmingham Ormiston Academy to study Musical Theatre. After going through a rigorous audition process with many other aspiring young performers, the girls' talents shone through. Unfortunately this does mean they will be leaving us at the end of the year to start at the performing arts academy in September. We would like to wish them every success and hope to see them on the stage in the future!

We would also like to congratulate Erin Bickford on receiving an offer on the same course, however Erin has chosen to complete her education here with us at Polesworth and may consider re-applying for BOA's post-16 programme of study.

Another rising star within the PE department is Issie Wood. Again after a very intense audition process, Issie was offered a place in the Birmingham Royal Bal-let's youth academy. She now takes classes with them every Saturday and may have the opportunity to perform with Birmingham Royal Ballet in coming pro-ductions. A position in this academy means Issie is now receiving ballet training from some of the best dancers and teachers in the country and will hopefully lead on to exciting performance opportunities for her in the future!

Congratulations to all four girls on these brilliant achievements!

DRUM LESSONS

Last week a very talented past student of ours, George Starr came into school to teach drums for the day. He was a real inspiration and students have been asking us about drum lessons. We have a few spaces available on Monday. If you would like a letter, please see Mrs Glover.

LIVE LOUNGE 2017

Last Friday we held our Live Lounge evening which was a sell out yet again! The evening was full of talent and we feel very proud to have students as gifted as ours. We had fantastic feedback from parents and from local residents who always come and support the evening.

This year’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ winner were our Y10 Seven Nation Army group, so well done to all of you. Huge thanks go to all the staff that helped on the night, without you we couldn’t put on big events. Special thanks to Mrs Dandy for putting on the refreshments.

Instead of a summer concert this year, we are hosting a number of lunchtime concerts during June and July so that more students can perform. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sensational Studio Sessions coming soon to the Drama Studio, on 26-30th

June 2017. Featuring performances from Mr Meads, Mr Lewis, Mr Kastelik,

Cara Britton, the Syborgs and Alice Smith.

There will be a mixture of bands and soloists, performing a wide variety of

genres from classical to rock music. The sessions are open to all Polesworth

school students and will start at 1:30pm.
