Snow and snow and snow! It has been hard for both staff and students to get into a routine with all of the holidays and the snow days, be we are all trying very hard to get back into a rhythm. My Leadership Team will be meeting later this week to discuss the make up dates for both Grandparents’/ Special Friends' Day and Movie Night. We will also need to coordinate with other groups like the Recreation Department and Food Service, so it may be next week before we have that settled, but I will give you an update on those make- up dates as soon as we have them settled. They are both very important events to all of us, so we want to make a decision that will enable the most people to participate. Thank you for your continued support and understanding! __________________________________________________ Report Cards are heading home today! The Giving TreeIn keeping with our PCS tradition, we are once again sponsoring a Giving Tree to help some of our families with their holiday gifts. Ornaments were placed on our tree in the school’s entry way on Nov 19th. We are putting just one item on each ornament. If you wish

to purchase more than one item, you are welcome to take as many tags as you would like. The age and gender of a child will be written on each ornament as well as the item needed. We have a clipboard beside the tree to write down what ornament was taken along with your name.

If you would like your child to choose an ornament, please send a note with your child giving them permission to do so.  Once you select an ornament, please stop by the Giving tree and sign off on the clipboard the items you are taking. Please return unwrapped gifts to the office by Dec 14th.

We are asking you NOT TO WRAP THE GIFTS, but attach the ornament tag to the gift and drop them off at the school front office. However, we are asking for any donations of wrapping paper.Participation in this activity is purely voluntary. This is a wonderful way to brighten the holiday season for some of own PCS families!

Thank you for your generosity!________________________________________________________

After reading the last newsletter about

rhyming, you may be wondering, now

what? It is important to incorporate

rhyming and alliteration activities into

the day to reinforce what the children

are learning. Here are a few ideas for

different activities you can try at home.

• Alliteration Picnic: Make meal or snack time into a picnic using

alliteration words. Try serving "tasty tomatoes", "leafy lettuce", "sassy

strawberries", "crazy crackers", "awesome apples", "moo milk" or "jungle

juice". After you finish eating sing a few rounds of "I'm going on a

picnic" using your alliteration snacks.

• A Bag Full of Surprises: Fill a small brown paper bag with small items

(plastic figures, blocks, shapes, etc.). Have your child select an item and

say a word that rhymes with it or starts with the same letter.

• Letter Collage: This is a fun family activity. Print a letter on a sheet of

paper. Have the child go through magazines or newspapers and cut out

pictures of words that start with that letter. Great practice of fine motor

skills and early literacy!

• Zany Zoo: Going to the Wildlife Park or a zoo any time? Have the children

come up with names for the animals using alliteration. Think "Bob the

Baboon", "Gary the Gorilla", "Donald the Dingo", “Wayne the Wolf”

Exciting News from our Title I Staff !

Title IA Services have created a family resource center. Your child can check out math games, math books, and literacy materials to enjoy at home for up to a week. Once they return the item to the resource center, they may check out another item. If you have any questions contact Ms. LaPrell or Mrs. Russo [email protected] or [email protected].
