VOLUNTEERS LUNCHEONToday we have held our annual thank you luncheon for all of our school volunteers. December 5th was International Volunteer Day, and is a dedi-cated day when the world acknowledges the efforts of volunteers in build-ing stronger and more cohesive communities. This year’s theme – Volunteers Build Resilient Communities – recognises the role volunteers play in strengthening local communities and advocating for change. In celebration of International Volunteer Day, Volunteering Australia is also pleased to announce the new theme for National Volunteer Week 2019 – “Making A World of Difference”, which will be held from 20-26 May. On behalf of the school, I would like to thank all of the classroom helpers, canteen volunteers, scripture and ethics teachers and all of the other community members who have given up their time to make our school the great place it is today. STAFFING UPDATES Due to an unexpected personal issue, Mrs Carey has had to take leave for the remainder of the 2018 school year. Mrs Carey has done a wonderful job as the Early Stage 1 Assistant Principal and she will be sorely missed by the children, staff and community. The teaching responsibilities for ES1 Blue for the remaining 7 days of the 2018 school year will be undertaken by Mrs Leanne Ryan and Mrs Ricketts. Mr Scott Campbell - Principal LIBRARY NEWS

Returning Books - This week I will begin the annual Library Stocktake. Please ensure that all books are returned to the library. Throughout Week 9, library books will be collect-ed from class each morning. Students will not have their usual library lesson, however returns can be made anytime during the day, before and after school or to the front office. Please DO NOT leave library books outside the library if the library is closed; sim-ply return them to the office. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Please contact me, if you have any concerns regarding a misplaced or lost book. In some instances, a small replacement fee may be required to assist with the purchase of a new copy of the book, I can be contacted via phone or letter, through the school office or email ([email protected]). Thank you for your assistance and understanding.

Holiday Reading - Don’t stop reading in the holidays! Join the local library and borrow endless amounts of quali-ty books. Membership is free and once you are member of Central Coast Libraries, you are able to borrow from any branch (Woy Woy, Umina, Erina, Gosford, Kariong, Tuggerah). Join online here https://www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au/libraries/membershipThe libraries also offer great holiday programs for kids. Have a look at their ‘What’s On’ page here https://www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au/libraries/whats-on

Volunteers - Thank you to Angela Mitchell and Sharon Gallant, for your help covering books this year and to Jan Hunter for coordinating the Scholastic Book Club. Your support has been amazing and the students and I are very grateful to all of you.

Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy Reading!Jodie McCabe
