A compact growth type with large flower heads. We advise spacing out later to encourage the v-shape.

Cutting can be stuck immediately into pot sizes 6–10.5 cm; has an uniform root development and stands firmly in the pot.

Treat plants in 6 cm pots more intensively with plant growth regulators (PGRs) as it has larger leaves.

Aries is, compared to Astro, slightly more vigorous and is therefore recommended for the bigger pot sizes. Aries has sturdy branches.

Aries is very uniform and all branches are well present at the top of the plant if the plants are not spaced too early.

Requires heating early in cultivation for optimum rooting and branching. Pinch once the plants are displaying sufficient root penetration into the soil. We advise overhead irrigation during the first 3 weeks to stimulate breaking.

Reduce growth regulation on plants in pot size 6, maintain temperature at 18°C or higher during final stage of cultivation to maintain a larger flower head.

Potting instructionsWe advise to pot the young plants as soon as possible after arrival. The plugs must be lightly pressed during potting. Use a black pot or a not transparant pot for a good rooting. For the first 3 to 5 days, we advise you to screen out the sharpest light, between 11:00h and 15:00h, so that the plants can acclimatise. For optimal root growth and good sprout development of the shoots, we recommend to water from above for the first 3 to 5 weeks. You can start with a vegetative fertilization scheme: EC 1.5 and increase the EC gradually to 1.8.

Cuttings and production in AfricaThe Poinsettia cuttings are produced in Ethiopia and Uganda. The greenhouses there are specially equipped for the cultivation of Poinsettia motherplants. Cultivation, organization and transport are managed by a professional team. Three times a week the cuttings are sent to our rooting locations or directly to our customers.

ProductionThe rooting of Poinsettia is a technical challenge and takes place at our location in Maasdijk. The cultivation equipment is excellent and our cultivation staff take the right cultivation measures to give the cuttings an optimal start. The cuttings are stuck by an enthusiastic group of permanent staff members. During sticking, the size and length of the cuttings are also immediately taken into account. After about 4 weeks the cuttings are well rooted and sufficiently hardened off to make the next step to the grower.

ProductieDe beworteling van Poinsettia is teelttechnisch een hele uitdaging en vindt op onze locatie in Maasdijk plaats. De teelttechnische uitrusting is uitstekend en onze teeltmedewerkers nemen de juiste teeltmaatregelen om de stekken een optimale start te geven. De stekken worden gestoken door een enthousiaste groep vaste medewerksters. Tijdens het steken wordt ook direct goed op de maat en de lengte van de stekken gelet. Na ongeveer 4 weken zijn de stekken goed doorworteld en voldoende afgehard om de vervolgstap naar de kweker te maken.

The tests give a good insight into the developments in the market and it is also a good cooperation to promote and further develope the Poinsettia!

Spitzensport gibt es einen fairen Vergleich, weshalb Beekenkamp an den unabhängigen LTO-Weihnachtsstern-Tests teilnimmt. LTO testet jährlich bei zwei Züchtern in den Niederlanden mit den besten 20-25 Testarten und Referenzsorten der verschiedenen Poinsettia-Züchter. Die Tests geben einen guten Einblick in die Marktentwicklung und wir arbeiten auch gemeinsam an der Förderung und Weiterentwicklung von Poinsettia!

Test locatiesBij kwekers in Duitsland, Italië, Nederland, Engeland en diverse locaties in Noord – Amerika worden rasproeven uitgezet om te weten hoe een ras in bepaalde klimaatomstandigheden presteert en of deze aan Beekenkamp's strenge eisen voldoet. Bij topsport hoort een eerlijk vergelijk en daarom doet Beekenkamp mee met de onafhankelijke LTO poinsettia proeven. LTO zet jaarlijks bij twee kwekers in Nederland proeven op met de beste 20-25 proefsoorten en referentierassen van de verschillende poinsettia veredelaars. De proeven geven een goed inzicht in de ontwikkelingen in de markt en bovendien werken we gezamenlijk aan de promotie en verdere ontwikkeling van poinsettia!
