2016 Iowa Wing Encampment

11-18 June 2016

Encampment Commander Lt Col Joe Hackett

Notes by Bravo Flight compiled by Maj Jessa Erickson

Day 4 of encampment was a day of experiences and lesson for Bravo Flight. Early mornings of physical activity and contributing to the breakfast routine was a busy start to an exciting day. After a few days of working together constantly, Bravo Flight tackles the ultimate Frisbee field in a few morning games against the two other flights, as well as staff. The growing amount of teamwork between the cadets and flight staff of Bravo Flight shows not only in the head-to-head matches against Alpha & Charlie flights, but continues on the confidence course. Bravo flight learned a very important lesson about teamwork and leadership; giving 100% for the cadet next to you, and following leaders who arise from the chaos, is the only way to be successful. This lesson has been learned by Bravo Flight and is told in the fastest times of all flights. They were the only flight to have finished the third obstacle course in the allotted time, as well as finishing the other two courses with the fastest times. Bravo Flight is proud of their accomplishments so far, but challenges must be conquered one step at a time. Bravo Flight knows that each day brings new obstacles and their motivation and strength has to be proven. Annual Checkrides Capt Jacob Odgaard

Orientation Rides – Power and Glider Calling all Pilots and Cadets – there is Orientation Ride money available. Take advantage of the nice flying weather – grab a cadet or 2 and FLY!! Commanders…if you have cadets that need O-Rides call Pilots in Davenport, Cedar Rapids or Des Moines. It’s FREE flying for Orientation Pilots.

Proficiency Flying Pilots…each month Capt Darrel Mullins puts in a mission

number for proficiency flights. There is a proficiency profile to follow but take up a scanner and/or observer. The scanner and observer train on the tasks they need to

become a scanner/observer, renew skills or gain experience.
