His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

Twas the Night before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore

Old Business Christmas Baskets: Patty Strauch announced that there would be three couples chairing the Christmas Basket Committee this year. They will be, Dick & Patty Strauch, John & Judy Gue and Hal & Cindy Tumbleson. Patty passed around a couple of sign-up sheets. One was for turkey donations. She said that we will need 75 turkeys for the baskets. The basket will be going to the Sproul middle school, where Ruth used to teach and we are getting a list of names from Mark Twain Middle School so that we can distribute them to many churches and organization they recommend. Patty announced that Safeway and King Soopers usually has turkeys on sale for $4.00 - $5.00 apiece for Manor House and $6.99 - $7.99 apiece for Honeysuckle. She will be sending out further notices and updates to everyone via e-mail, so please keep an eye on your messages. There is also a list of other food needed for the baskets in this newsletter, so please check it out and help out where you can. The other sign-up sheet was for the basket assembly, which will be on Thursday, December 14th at John & Judy Gue’s home. After we assemble the baskets, there will be desert for everyone to enjoy! Delivery of the basket will be on Saturday, December 16th. Times and locations will be announced at the next meeting. John reminded that if you do purchase food for the baskets, please bring them to the Christmas Party or to the next meeting. He also made a suggestion to members that they could pick up clothes baskets and toys at the dollar store. He thought that it would be nice to use the clothes baskets to put the food in for the families and would be a lot sturdier and hold up better, not to mention, it would also cut out a step in the assembly process. It is also nice to have some sort of toys for the kids to open up on Christmas morning. He also mentioned that if you would like to make a cash donation, it would be very much appreciated! Homecoming Parades: Vicki Ury thanked everyone who par-ticipated in the Coronado Parade. She thanked Patty Strauch,

Pete Olejnik, John Houston, Craig Wisniewski, Terri Wheeler, Ken Fender, Kathy Morey, Joe Horvath and Tom Ury for doing the parade. She also thanked Rik Noring Jr. and two members from the RMCSC, Scott Nightingale and Steve Weis. Thanks everyone for your participation in these events! Vickie also presented Joy Boland with a check for $130.00 to go to our club charity, Mission Medical Clinic. The money was from both the Coronado and Widefield Homecoming parades. We would like to thank Vicki for all of her hard work in organiz-ing the parades. We know that it has been especially hard for her to get volunteers to drive in these events. Halloween Party: Winnie Bochnak thanked everyone who came to the party, especially those who dressed up. She also thanked Wally & JoAnne Bochnak for the use of their home for the party as well as Alta for organizing the Bunko game. Con-gratulations to Diana Dittman for getting first place in the Bunko game, Sean Pazdzior came in second, Florece Noring got first for the most “Smiley’s”, Cindy Tumbleson got highest score and Karen Jenkins came away with the lowest score (which is NOT a good thing in Bunko!). A big Thank You to the Bochnaks for once again hosting a very fun event and providing all of the food and drinks! You guys always do such a terrific job! S’No Flakes Rally: Rallymaster, Craig Wisniewski passed around a flyer with a picture of what the t-shirts will look like since they will be late. The rally is on Sunday, November 5th at the Antlers/Hilton Hotel and registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. He asked everyone to drive up to the circular drive to have their cars tech’ed before parking. Lunch will be at Judge Baldwin’s at 11:00 a.m. And we will meet back at Judge Baldwin’s for com-plimentary appetizers and giving out the awards. This will be a Poker Rally. The cost is $20.00 for the driver, $10.00 for the navigator and $20.00 for a t-shirt. Manitou Christmas Parade: Chairperson, Patty Strauch an-nounced that the name of the theme for the parade this year will be “Snowflakes Smiles”. It will be held on Saturday, December 9th. She said that line up will be at Memorial Park on El Paso in

Manitou. She will send everyone directions either via e-mail or at the next meeting. The line up begins at 11:00 a.m. and the parade will begin at 12.00 noon. If you are interested in participating in the parade or lunch afterwards, please call or e-mail Patty. Christmas Party: Ashley Mess gave an update on this year’s Christmas Party. It will be held on December 2nd at the Iron Springs Chateau Dinner Theater. You can arrive at 5:30p.m. There will be a cash bar. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. The two hour holiday extravaganza show begins at 8:00 p.m. Ashley talked to the people at the Iron Springs Chateau and they told her that they would have a room available for us to “mingle” after the show if we wish. We will have our own room and it will be a family style meal. She reminded everyone to get signed up to-night and if you haven’t paid, you need to do that also. New Club Trailer: Larry Schubert reported that he, Hal Tum-bleson and Dick Strauch have been checking prices for a new club trailer. He gave a cost breakdown for a brand new trailer. He stated that if we went with one with all of the options, we were looking at about $10,000. If we went with just “bare bones” it would cost about $5,500. He reminded everyone that those costs were for a brand new trailer. He said that the best guess they could give us on a used trailer would be about $6,500. This would be for one that we would have to modify ourselves to put on the extra options that we want. He said that finding a used trailer through a dealer would be near impossible. Our trailer should probably go for around $1,500. Rik Noring stated that there was a trailer down at the Corvette Center that is 7 by 18 feet that is for sale for $4,500. that we might be interested in. We still have some time so we don’t have to jump into anything right away. Melvin Swindale thanked the club for the parade (caravan) that we did for Ruth’s funeral. He said that he knows that Ruth was looking down and was really happy about it. We were more than happy to do that for Ruth and her family. She will be missed! Pg. 27

New Business

NCCC News and Updates: Governor, Walt Jenkins announced that he would be attending the Governors meeting in St. Louis on November 10 - 12. He will be presenting all of the material for the 2009 Convention in hopes that they will vote on Colorado Springs in February. He presented the spreadsheet to the Region-al Governor a couple of weeks ago and they all seemed to agree with it. They figure, as of now that we can put the convention on for an entry fee of $135.00 per person. That would include an awards breakfast, dinner at the Flying W. Ranch, parties and en-tertainment for the week. Hal is still looking into hotels in the area that would work the best for us. Walt also reminded every-one that there are still two rallies coming up, aside from our S’No Flakes Rally. There will be a five event rally on November 18th and one on the 19th. Audit for the CSCC Treasury: Treasurer, Hal Tumbleson sug-gested that since our treasury is doing so well, that we do an audit every six months to a year. He suggested that we have a Board Member and a general member and a former treasurer to basically go over the bank statements and make sure that everything looks good. Motion was passed to do an audit once a year. Events Calendar for 2007: Walt asked for any volunteers who would be interested in being on the events committee to set up the calendar for 2007. The following people have volunteered: Walt Jenkins, Hal Tumbleson, Shawn Mess, Diana Dittman, Don Adametz, Denise Phillips and Rik Noring Jr. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to do this! Walt mentioned that if anyone else would like to volunteer or have any events that they would like to put on the calendar, please let him know right away be-cause they need to get this done A.S.A.P. Steamboat Springs: Walt announced that he had gotten a call from someone in Steamboat Springs who is also connected to the Sheraton Hotel there. They wondered if our club would be inter-ested in going up for a weekend and doing something similar to

The Vettes on the Rockies. We would have a car show, rallies, autocrosses etc, We could do this in place of or in addition to the Casper WY event on Labor Day weekend. Autocrosses this year: Rik Noring Jr. announced that he talked to someone at P.P.I.R. who is confident that they will have buyers by this Spring. They won’t let us book anything yet. Walt re-ported that we won’t be able to race at D.I.A. anymore. Accord-ing to D.I.A. the S.C.C.A. used the track and tore it up pretty good and did not repair or compensate for the damage. Walt said that we may possibly be able to get Mile High Stadium but the cost would be much higher. He stated that it would be $1500.00 per day plus a $2500.00 deposit. He will bring it up to the region and see if they would like to have a “pot” that we could all draw out of to cover the cost of the deposit. Right now, we have no place for the Spring autocross and driving school. There were several suggestions, including one from Rob Miskowitch who says that there is a place in Pueblo who may be able to suit our needs. Rob is going to check into it for us. Thanks Rob. New Vettes or upgrades to existing Vettes: Walt and Hal both announced that they both got their Corvettes fixed. Walt’s is still a W.I.P. though and we don’t have to worry about Hal falling out of his car at autocrosses anymore. Mike Bochnak said that he took his ZR1 out one day and ran into a caravan of Porches. Tried as he did, he could not get any of them to race. Could it be that they knew that he had the Fastest Time of the Day autocross winner, Winnie, with him??? Hal announced that his Son-In-Law, Chris Nordby, came in late during the meeting. It is his second meeting and we would like to welcome him and hope that he makes it to a third meeting. Joy Boland reported that she knows a place that makes gold pins of Corvettes. She had one of a ‘65 Corvette and said that if we would like, we could have some made but we would have to pay for the mold. Craig Wisniewski suggested that we explore other options on getting more people to vote in the club elections. He made a rec-ommendation that we send out absentee ballots. He stated that Pg. 25

Less than one third of the membership were present to vote in our last elections. President, Sean Pazdzior said that we would have to change the By-Laws in order to do this and Walt said that we WANT members to come to the meetings to vote. Craig men-tioned that that would not happen and there is a question about how much room we have if all of the members showed up. Treasurer, Hal Tumbleson thanked everyone for getting in their renewals payments in. He stated that 11 members did not renew their membership. Rob Miskowitch announced that he had gone to Spring Moun-tain Training School and that he has a couple of DVD’s in case anyone was interested in seeing them. He stated that he got to drive a new Z06. Door Prizes We would like to thank Daniels Chevyland for donating the door prizes again this month. They will be held for the Christmas Par-ty. Good News/Bad News Suitcase The good news/bad news suitcase was brought back by Shawn Mess this month. It was auctioned off to Jeff Overman, who had the highest bid of $21.00. He got a really good deal! Shawn & Ashley filled it with several very nice items. After the Meeting After tonight’s meeting, we will be having our conviviality at Fa-mous Dave’s BBQ. Which is located just North off of North Academy, on Hwy. 83. The BBQ. there is terrific! Please remem-ber that you don’t have to be a member to join us for this gather-ing.

President’s Corner The month of December that means parties, shop-ping, good will towards all, and just relaxing with family and friends. During this busy holiday season CSCC still has some upcoming events for all to at-tend. First up our annual Christmas Party on December 2, 2006 at the Iron Springs Chateau. This is a great place for our party with a family style meal, private room, and a great show. Ashley Mess and Todd Butts did a wonderful job getting this party organized. So when you see Ashley or Todd give them a big thank you for all their hard work. I look forward to seeing you all at the Christmas party. On December 9, 2006 the town of Manitou will be putting on its Snowflakes & Smiles Parade for Christmas. For those of you who have not attended this event before you will love it. The parade route is not very long but is lined with people wall to wall. Patty Strauch will be chairing this parade so if you are interested let her know. As you may have guessed they will be going out to eat after the parade so if you cannot attend the parade you can still join us for a bite to eat. Before we end the month of December we will be putting together 75 food baskets for people in need. John & Judy Gue, Dick & Patty Strauch, and Hal & Cindy Tumbleson are heading up this enormous project. The club will be assembling the boxes on 14th of December and delivering them on the 16th of December. As always they will need a ton of help from all of us in the club. So I ask you all please give your time and help out in whatever way you can. You can help in many ways such as donating turkeys and other food items on the list you all re-ceived. They will also need a lot of volunteers to put the boxes together and deliver them as well. I have help with the Christmas baskets for a couple of years now, and let me tell you I have never felt better about myself or this club during this time. To actually see the difference we as a club can make in a families holiday is priceless. Merry Christmas, Sean Pazdzior President, CSCC
