An efficient compressed air system is the product of good planning to ensure minimum pressure loss in the system, and the removalof most contaminants; water, compressor oil, particles, etc. An inefficient system results in higher costs per unit of compressed air,improper or erratic tool operation, shortened component life, and reduced capacity. These problems can cost hundreds of dollars ayear. When laying out a compressed air system, one should consider the size of the compressor and the most effective way toprocess and distribute the air. Many systems in operation today are the result of add-on components which have been interconnectedas the requirement for air, within a given operation, is increased. The outline information here is offered as a guide for upgrading anexisting system or to aid in planning a new compressed air system.

Tank valves provide automatic air from air tanks, steel barrels, compressors, and other pneumatic containers. Standard brass tankvalves are suitable up to 200psi and the high pressure inflating connections (3000 psi, N556 / N2755) have stainless bodies for use inair charged units such as shock absorber struts, hydraulic pressure accumulators, surge cylinders, and other pneumatic systems.
