Plus-Size Clothing & Accessory Style Guide
Nathalie Martin
IntroductionKnowing as much as we can about our own bodies can help us make better informed decisions about the clothing and accessories we buy.
For every body type, there’s a style that suits it
In this guide, we’ll be exploring how you can make designer clothes for curvy women, as well as underwear and accessories, best suit
your larger frame.
Body Types
• Hourglass – Voluptuous, defined waist, full bust and hips
• Triangle – Full hips with a smaller bust and narrow shoulders and a defined waist
• Apple – average to large bust, broader shoulders, narrower hips, less defined waist
• Inverted Triangle – broad shoulders, fuller bust, narrower waist and hips
• Rectangle – small bust and small hips, with little waist definition
Identifying your body type can help you make more informed decisions on which type of clothing and accessories you should be wearing. Matching your
style with your body type will give your outfit a more flattering appearance.

HandbagsWhich Handbag Suits Your Body Type?
Tall Curvy Pear Shape Triangle
Short, slouchy shapes like the hobo. Avoid shoulder bags which shorter straps that make you look taller. Go for bold prints, not small patterns.
Choose a bag that ends just above the waist; if it ends on the hips it draws attention to this area. Keep away from bags that are too small, and choose short to medium length straps.
Go for satchels and bowler style bags, but avoid any at the hip. Choose simplistic designs, as small prints may make you look bigger than you are, whilst large prints draw attention to your size.
Always go for bags with longer handles; a hip length cross body bag is good, but avoid any that finish at the bust line or mid-section.
