  • returned grades of 0.034 oz/t and 0.224 oz/t.

In 1991 a bulldozer stripping program uncovered the early

trenches in the deformed and altered polymictic conglomerate and

mafic volcanic. Concurrently, a channel sampling program was

completed and returned grades of less than 5 ppb to 177 ppb in

gold in the conglomerates and less than 5 ppb to 1946 ppb in the

    mafic volcanics.

In 1989 the OGS flew an airborne electromagnetic survey,

total intensity magnetic survey Cby Aerodat); Map 81322. The

results indicated a number of linear electromagnetic conductors

and the change in magnetic signature between the conglomerates

and the volcanics. -In additions, the magnetics also defined the

    position of the diabase dykes.

    REGIONAL GEOLOGY

Regionally, the claim occurs within the Beardmore-Geraldton

greenstone belt, lying wi.thin the Superior Province of the

Precambrian Shield. It is comprised of three east-west trending

sequences of metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks that have^

been intruded by mafic to felsic rocks. The claim occurs w'ithin

the northern metavolcanic/metasedimentary sequence which consists

predominately of polymictic metaconglomerate and clastic rocks in

contact with pillowed mafic volcanics. Metagabbro, diorite,

quartz diorite are commonly intercalated with the mafic volcanics

suggesting a comagmatic origin. Diabase occurs as north and

  • 4

northeast trending dykes throughout the belt as well as a large

westward dipping sheet in the western part of the belt. Regional

metamorphism ranges from lower to upper greenschist facies.

Structurally, the region lies along the boundary between the

Wabigoon structural belt to the north and Quetico structural belt

to the south. Several prominent east-west trending regional

faults transect the belt. These include the Paint Lake , Watson

Lake and Sandra Lake Faults (from Kowalski, thesis in progress).

    PROPERTY GEOLOGY

Similar rock types occur on the property as described above,

that is, polymictic conglomerates in contact with pillowed mafic

volcanics. A dioritic intrusive lies just south of the contact

and a diabase dyke cross-cuts stratigraphy. A deformed, altered

and mineralized zone occurs within the conglomerate and volcanic

at the contact. The shear zone is approximately 100 feet wide

and is principally altered with ankerite and sericite. It is

mineralized with pyrite (.2-37. l ocally) and minor chalcopyrite.

    CURRENT WORK PROGRAM AND. RESULTS

The plugger program was completed on-the deformed, altered

and mineralized mafic volcanics which was stripped in 1991.

Ninety one plugger holes were drilled, eight three were success

ful, from depths ranging from 2 to 6 feet vertically. The

  • 5

samples were in powder form therefore, no sample descriptions*

could be given. The plugger hole and sample numbers, with the

depths of the holes are listed in Table l along with the assay

results. The powder from the holes (2 to 4 pounds ) were col

lected and placed in sample bags. The bags were labelled and

shipped to Wawa Assaying Inc. for fire assaying. The results of

the program are the best assays to be returned on the mafic

volcanic showing. Typically assays were less than 300 ppb,

however a number of them were greater than 300 ppb. Those

samples which were anomalous were sample number 3 l A- 3,978 ppb to

    a depth of 2 feet, 69A - 563 ppb to a depth of 2 feet, 70A and

    70B to a 1,036 and 2 f 674 respectively to a total depth of ^ feet,

    72B - 425 ppb to a depth of 3.5 feet, 74A and 74B - 1,578 and 422

ppb to a total depth of 6 feet. Dimensions of the area where

anomalous gold occurs can be outlined and determined to be 7.79

feet (2.36 metres) in width, 22 feet (6.66 metres) in strike

    length and 2 to 6 feet in depth. , i t r i - ,, * (Vr- *-Cc t-,, ocr *-^ ' Ow

    ^ as A| J l u/fiut { Vt - cJbl CONCLUSIONS fe RECOMMENDATIONS

The program was totally successful outlining an area where

anomalous gold is found and could not be determined from the

previous channel sampling program. Enhanced gold values were

encountered in most of the samples at depth. It is therefore

recommended the following program to be implemented. A program

of magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys to be completed over the
