Why use Plickers?

What is Plickers?

Plickers is a classroom app that allows for quick formative assessment of your students without needing a device for all of your students.

*My school is not a 1-to-1 school. We do have an ipad cart with 30 ipads that can be checked out by the specials teachers, so plickers is great for my situation because I don’t always have access to a class set of ipads.

How to Use Plickers

● Set up an account at www.plickers.com○ Need an email and password

● Can purchase plicker cards online ($20) or print them off the plickers website FREE!○ Not recommended to laminate.○ Card Stock gives cards a longer life○ Color code

● I assign my students the same number plickers as they have

as their pedometer number.

Getting Started

● Add a Class (assign name, year, class, color)● Enter names manually or copy/paste from excel ● Names will be added in order. If you want to change a

number - drag name over number. Their number is unique to them. Make sure they take the correct Plicker card! I assign the Plicker card the same as their pedometer number, so they have one number to remember.

Making your Questions

Types of Questions● Multiple Choice● True/False● Can add picture now! *can see picture on mobile device now too

How to display questions● Make question to post on whiteboard **my preference● Say question verbally out loud (no visual)● Post with LCD or Apple TV to view

Assessment in seconds● Every student gets their Plickers card● Teacher asks a question● Student hold up Plickers card to reflect answer (A,B,C,D)

○ Fingers on corners○ Hold up the correct way with your answer at the top○ Option to label back of Plickers card to make easier for student.

● Teacher scans student answers (Portrait not Landscape) with ipad or mobile device using the camera function on the Plickers app.

● When you successfully scan their card, it reads their answer & highlight on your mobile device

● Instant Check for Understanding - view results

This one shows you that only 9/23 responded. Red got it wrong, green was correct, grey was no response.
