Principal Report

Teacher Change on KL

There has been a change of teacher on KL starting this week. Ms Stephenson will be teaching KL Monday to Friday for the rest of the Term 2. Mrs Martin will be taking on the position of Instructional Leader at Campbelltown East PS. Ms Stephenson has been working with KL from the beginning of the year and is very familiar to all of the students. Mrs Richardson, Miss Steven and Miss Abbey will continue working with the class providing support to all students in Kindergarten.

Congratulations to Mrs Pearce Congratulations to Mrs Pearce who was taken on the role of Acting Principal at Luddenham Public School for the rest of the year. We wish Mrs Pearce all the best at Luddenham PS. Mrs Martin will be working as Instructional Leader at CEPS for Term 2 and will continue to supervise Kindergarten.

Sick Students

It is important that if your child is unwell or showing signs of illness that you keep them at home. We need to ensure our staff and students feel safe where germs are not being shared. If a child is unwell at school, a phone call will be made to the parent /carer requesting for the unwell child to be picked up from school immediately. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.

No Assemblies

In the times of COVID 19 we have had to make many changes to the way that we operate in society and at school. As we are unable to have assemblies to hand out awards, teachers will be handing out Special Awards in class presentations.

School Uniform

The weather is certainly becoming much cooler, especially now that we have officially reached winter. The cold weather means that we now need our winter woollies to keep us warm throughout the school day. It is important that our students wear their full school uniform every day. Coloured jumpers and jackets are not part of our school uniform, nor are black pants and denim. Wearing our school uniform demonstrates pride and provides a sense of belonging. Taking pride in our school uniform is very important to us. Uniform items can be purchased from the front office at any time.

Morning and Afternoon Drop Offs

Thank you to all parents, carers and friends who have supported our school by embracing the changes we have made to morning and afternoon drop offs. CEPS staff members enjoy the opportunity to greet both students and parents / carers at the gates each day and appreciate your positivity and friendly responses. As you are aware, the NSW Department of Education have made changes to the way our schools operate in order to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community. These changes will continue for a long time to come. I would like to say a huge THANK YOU for your support. It certainly makes a difference when our staff can see that they have the support of our community. We are all in this together and it is something that we will need to continue to work together as a team in order to ensure positive outcomes continue to be achieved. Thank you all for your flexibility and patience. Regards, Janene Cook Principal

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

Child Care Absences and COVID-19

Whether a child is actually ill or not, including where a child does not attend care as part of the family’s own precautionary measure against potential contact with COVID-19, CCS can be paid for up to 42 absence days per child, per financial year, without the need for families to provide documentation.

Once a child’s 42 initial absences have been used, CCS can be paid for additional absences for a reason defined in the Family Assistance Law, including illness Evidence is required to be kept by the provider for any additional absences claimed, e.g. a doctor’s certificate.

• If a child is not ill and does not attend care (as part of the family’s own precautionary measure against potential contact with COVID-19, some medical practitioners may support families by providing a medical certificate allowing them access to additional absences, if required.

• If a child is not ill and does not attend care for a longer period of time (for example, a month or longer), the family may wish to follow the established advice around longer absences, noting that an enrolment automatically ceases when a child does not attend care for 14 weeks).

What About Child Care Subsidies at the moment?

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) are a family’s entitlement, based on their individual circumstances, used

Page 6: Please Report Trespass/Vandalism Incidents to School Security …€¦ · School Term Date 2020 Term 2 Monday 27 April 2020 – 3 July 2020 (Students return Tuesday 28 April 2020)

for subsidising the cost of childcare to help them undertake work-related activities.

Importantly, the general application of CCS and ACCS is that it can only be paid where services are open and providing care, with the exception of public holidays or when a period of local emergency has been declared. This means for the early childhood sector that CCS and ACCS cannot be applied to family’s accounts during the period of a forced closure due to the pandemic of COVID-19 virus.
