Sprint Digital Certificate Installation Instructions For Windows 2000 and XP Operating Systems

The following steps will provide you with detailed instructions to successfully download and install a unique Sprint digital certificate on each of your Windows 2000 and XP computers that have been authorized for Sprint access. These instructions will not work for any other operating systems. At any time if you encounter a problem with the download process or the installation, you may either Contact Support for Download Issues, click the following link, or type https://indirect3.sprint.com/public_docs/i_dc_download_frame.html into your web browser and press Enter. Please follow the instructions on the form that loads to request assistance and you will be contacted as soon as possible. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE Internet Explorer 7 you can skip the following steps (listed here in italics) and proceed to download the digital certificate starting on page 5 of these instructions. If you have Internet Explorer 7 you will need to make one configuration change to your browser before you begin the digital certificate download process. The following steps will provide you with detailed instructions to successfully configure the IE7 browser in order to be able to download and install a unique Sprint digital certificate on each of your computers with IE7 that have been authorized for Sprint access. YOU MAY NOT SKIP ANY OF THE FOLLOWING IE7 CONFIGURATION STEPS! These steps must be completed or the subsequent certificate download process WILL NOT WORK. Additional steps to know We strongly recommend running the setup all in one fixes at https://calink.sprint.com/setup which will automate the below steps 1-7 as well as provide most of the settings needed for DARA access. We also strongly recommend you review the DARA troubleshooting guide as well if you run into problems accessing DARA. If you have IE7 You Must Complete This Configuration Change!

1. We recommend that you print a copy of these instructions to have available at each computer

on which you will be installing a Sprint digital certificate.

2. Complete the following steps so that each computer is properly configured to be able to download, install, and use digital certificates.

How to Setup Internet Explorer 7 for Digital Certificate Enrollment

1. Open an Internet Explorer 7 browser window. Go to Tools and click on Internet Options.

2. Click on the Security Tab and select the Trusted Sites icon.

3. Click on the Sites button.

4. Type in https://calink.sprint.com in the field as shown below and click ADD.

5. Now type in https://indirect3.sprint.com in the field as shown below and click ADD.

6. The 2 sites should be now in the Websites area as shown below. These may be in addition to any other existing Trusted Sites you may have previously specified. Click Close.

7. Click Ok on the remaining open dialog box to close it and you will be returned to the main Internet Explorer 7 window.

You are now ready to begin the digital certificate download process.

Before You Begin the Digital Certificate Download Process

1. Make sure that each computer is properly configured to be able to download, install, and use

digital certificates. In order for your computer to be eligible to use the Sprint digital certificate, the operating system must be Windows 2000 with Internet Explorer browser version 6.0 or Windows XP with Internet Explorer browser version 6.0 or 7.0.

2. If you are using Internet Explorer 7 then you must have completed the steps listed above in italics to add in the 2 trusted sites. If you have not completed these IE7 steps please return to the first page of these instructions and make the required changes now.

3. In addition to your valid Sprint domain User Name and Password, you will need the Manager Code

that was provided to you. Once you have verified these items, you are ready to begin the digital certificate download process. Proceed to the next section, Step-by-Step Digital Certificate Download & Installation Instructions.

Step-by-Step Digital Certificate Download & Installation Instructions

1. Using the computer on which you want to install the Sprint digital certificate, you can either click the link below (if viewing electronically), or you can launch your web browser and type the following URL into the Internet Explorer Address bar to access the digital certificate login page. If you type the address in yourself, don’t forget to hit Enter or click Go to navigate to the page. The URL for the download site is:

2. Wait for the required System Check page to load.

3. Click on the Check System Properties button which will validate the operating system and browser version for this machine.

4. With a successful system check you will be presented with the Digital Certificate Download Site page. If the system check fails please contact Sprint at 1-866-437-3551 during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 7 A.M. - 6 P.M. Central time.

5. Enter your supplied User Name, Password, and Manager Code and press Enter or click the Login button.

a. If you receive an error message, re-enter all entry fields and try again. Make sure CAPS LOCK is off.

b. If the login error persists, please contact support by calling Sprint at 1-866-437-3551 during normal business hours, Monday-Friday 7 A.M. - 6 P.M. Central time.

6. A successful login will bring you to the primary Digital Certificate Download Site page. You will

see information indicating how many certificates are available for download and the names and locations of the computers which already have certificates installed, unless this is your first installation. If this is your first download, you will not see any completed download records listed. Finally, you may also see a list of computers on which a download was started but not completed, if this has occurred on any of your previous downloads. A record listed here may be a link that will allow you to complete the download, if you have been in contact with Sprint Nextel support personnel. You would use this link only on the machine name listed and skip to step 11 below.

7. Verify that you have one or more digital certificates available to download. If you see zero available, you cannot continue the process and you must contact support by clicking the Contact Support for Download Issues link on the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions on the form that comes up to report the issue.

8. If there is a list of one or more computers with Completed downloads, review this list to make

sure the computer you are currently using is not on the list. If it is, STOP! You have already installed a digital certificate on this computer and you do not need to continue this process. If you have questions or are unsure why this computer is already listed as having completed the download, click the Contact Support for Download Issues link on the bottom of this page. Follow the instructions on the form that comes up to report the issue.

9. After verifying that this machine does not already have a digital certificate installed, enter a

unique computer machine name and a location in the fields provided. Valid entry characters are all alphanumeric characters and single spaces between words. No special characters (e.g., #,^,*,~…) and no multiple spaces between words are allowed.

a. If you make a mistake and want to clear the fields, click the Reset button. b. If you want to quit the download process, click the Cancel button to logout and return to

the login page.

10. When you have entered a valid computer machine name and a location, click the Begin Download button or just press Enter.

a. The system will double check the computer name you entered to make sure that a

computer with the same name does not already exist. If it does, you will see an error

message displayed near the top of the page. Double check the list of computer machine names to make sure the computer you are using isn’t already listed. If it is, click Cancel to logout. You have previously installed a certificate on this machine.

b. After you click Begin Download, the system will process the request and generate a unique digital certificate in the background. (Please note: Although rare, if a system error occurs you might see an error message before you get to the next page. This might be due to a web error, or a system unavailability error. If this happens, you can report the error messages or try the download again at a later time.)

11. After a few seconds, once the unique digital certificate has been generated and is available for

you to download, you will come to a new screen that allows you to finish the download. Click the Complete Download button to download the digital certificate to your computer.

a. It is critical that you finish this step or the digital certificate will not be installed. b. Once you click this button, do not close any windows or start any new programs or the

process may terminate unexpectedly and result in an unsuccessful installation.

12. When the download starts, you will be presented with several dialog boxes prompting you for action.

a. Do you want to request a certificate now? Click Yes.

b. Creating a new RSA Exchange key. Click OK.

c. Do you want the program to add the certificate now? Click Yes.

d. Do you want to install the certificate? Click Yes.

13. When the download finishes, you will be redirected to a certificate download confirmation screen.

It may take a few seconds for the system to redirect you to that page. If you are presented with a message that indicates you are being redirected, please wait a few seconds, or click the URL on the screen to be taken immediately to the confirmation page.

14. Once you see the confirmation page, the process is complete and you have successfully installed the digital certificate on that particular computer. You can repeat this same process on any remaining computers.

15. Optionally, you may verify the successful installation by logging back in from the Welcome page. When you get to the main page, you will see the total number of digital certificates available for download has been reduced by one, and the computer machine name you just added will be recorded in the Completed Downloads list.
