Proceeds from the Scenic Nature Walk and the Fun Run will be shared with the Courtney Carelli Foundation for Literacy. Courtney, a beloved native of Grafton, took a special interest in children and literacy during her lifetime. It is with great pride that we honor her memory by continuing to support the foundation that will promote literacy in local communities. Time and Place The 25th Annual Run for the Roses will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Grafton Lakes State Park, Route 2, 12 miles east of Troy, N.Y. The 5K Race begins at 9:00 a.m. The 2.5 Scenic Walk around Shaver Pond will start at 8:00 a.m. The Kids’ 1 mile Fun Run will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Course The 5K Race course follows the Park Entrance Road, continues along Route 2, around the Town Park and back into the Park on Long Pond Road. The first half of the course is downhill, with uphill slopes on the second half. Water stations are near the half point. Mile markers and split times will be available. The Race finishes under the Race Banner. The 2.5 Mile Scenic Nature Walk begins in the main parking lot, proceeds to Shaver Pond, and returns. The Walk finishes near the Race Banner. The Kids’ 1 Mile Fun Run begins in the main parking lot, proceeds through the woods and along the beach. The Fun Run finishes under the Race Ban- ner.
