PANTHER TRACKS APRIL, 2014 ISSUE NO. 4 PLEASANTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1964 REUNION NEWSLETTER Important Notice On Saturday, June 28th, classmates will gather together for a picnic at Gedney Park. The park is located down the road from The Holiday Inn in Mount Kisco (“HI”). The official address of the park is: 161 Millwood Road Chappaqua, NY. The park is on Route 133 and is less than five miles/ten minutes from the HI. The picnic starts at 11 A.M. and ends at 3 P.M. No tickets or reservations are required for the picnic (this is not a Reunion Committee sponsored event) and there are no entrance/parking fees for the park. There will be signage at the entrance to the park directing you to the “PHS Class of 1964’s Picnic” reserved shelter/site, which is located at the back of the park. Gedney Park encompasses 126 acres. “Our” picnic area includes a large shelter (for those who don’t like the sun and/or in case there is any “weather”) as well as spacious grassy areas. There is plenty of room to gather in groups or spread out, toss a Frisbee, do cartwheels, whatever suits your fancy! This reunion is “The Big One” and the number one goal is for everyone to have a grand time! The site is accessible by walking or driving on paved paths/roads or via a short trail hike. There is parking at the entrance to the park, as well as a parking lot across the road from our picnic area. Perhaps most importantly: there are bathrooms near the shelter, too! All you need to do is bring a sandwich and beverage (non-alcoholic, please). Everyone will order and pay their own deli tab. Take-out menus from nearby restaurants will be provided in the hospitality room at HI. (If you are at La Quinta, we will leave a packet with details for you at LQ check-in.) Also note that there is a very large A&P Store within easy walking distance of HI, if you want to put together your own picnic basket. They make sandwiches “to go” in their deli department. There are picnic tables/benches on the site. We hope that people who live locally or are driving a distance, but have room in their cars, will pack some folding chairs—not only for yourself , but also a few extra to share with classmates who are far from home/travelled by air. If you can bring a large cooler of ice for people to keep their water/soft drinks, that would be welcomed, too! Thanks! The Picnic! Note: Details on ordering lunch and transportation information for people who are staying at HI or LQ and do not have cars will be covered in a future letter when we are closer to the reunion weekend. We’ve had some inquiries RE: reunion wardrobe. For the graduation, the dress code is casual (no shorts/flip flops, but not necessary to suit up either). The dress code for the class photo and dinner is business casual.

We’ve had some inquiries RE: reunion wardrobe. For

the graduation, the dress code is casual (no shorts/flip

flops, but not necessary to suit up either). The dress

code for the class photo and dinner is business casual.

The Class of 64's tune guru, Robie Roemer, did a great job of narrowing down four years worth of hits to 3 hours of play time for "The Big One".  Our DJ, whose name happens to be Caruso, will start spinning this stack of oldies hits after dinner. The music will be set-up and played so that people who want to talk and mingle can do so; those who want to dance can dance.! If YOUR all-time  favorite high school song is not on the list below,  please send your request to Robie ([email protected]). Programming will get underway soon, so if you have a request, please send it in NOW. Thanks. (Reminder: requests must be hits from 1960 through that wonderful summer of '64; nothing earlier or later/no college songs.)!

Troop 23: Newsletter editor Becky, who was also in Troop 23, but is not in this picture remembers the troop’s favorite song: “Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver, the other is gold!” A lesson well learned, as well over half of Troop 23 will be at “THE BIG ONE” in June.
