Now that you’ve applied to college, it’s time to tackle the big issue: how will you pay for it? Filling out the FAFSA early and accurately is ESSENTIAL to getting money for college.

� Register for your FSA ID.

� Help your parent(s) or guardian(s) register for an FSA ID.

� Gather materials for the STUDENT portion of the FAFSA:

9 Social Security or Permanent Resident Card number

9 Most recent W2 and 1040 (if you had a job last year)

9 Driver’s license number (if you have a license)

9 Your bank statement

� Have your parent or guardian gather materials for the PARENT part of FAFSA (if the student is in custody of both biological parents, this should be both parents; If not, just the biological parent who has legal guardianship). If neither biological parents have guardianship, it should be the individual who has legal guardianship.

9 Their driver’s license number (if they have a license)

9 Records related to family circumstances: disability or public assistance reports, loss ofemployment, etc.

� Fill out the Student Information and Student Dependency Status portions of the FAFSA.
