SAXON DASHER

Saxon Dasher joined the FOCUS Board of Directors in 2002, recruited for his accounting talents by his closest and oldest friend, Jeff Beech. Saxon was one of the first board members who did NOT personally have a child with special needs. This fact did not suppress his belief or enthusiasm for FOCUS and our mission; he did, however, lead the organization wisely during a time of economic growth. His careful oversight guided FOCUS to grow programs but maintain a safe reserve to protect programs in the event of a recession. This counsel saw FOCUS through a few tough years and continues to allow FOCUS to offer critical programs to children with special needs and their parents. You might not see Saxon dancing at camp or making a hospital visit, but we at FOCUS know he’s there, watching our books and protecting our future!

Tori Chimberoff first volunteered for FOCUS day camp at age 15 – and our campers loved her immediately! The next summer, she encouraged her twin Scott to volunteer with her – and he was equally popular! All through high school, both Tori and Scott expanded their volunteer efforts to FOCUS respite care, swim team, and teen and young adult programs. We were worried when they left for college, afraid they would be gone forever ... but, no worries, they return for a full week of overnight camp “Camp Infinity” for our teens & young adults! Tori & Scott reluctantly agreed to be recognized this year, with the promise that we would also recognize the other dedicated counselors at Camp Infinity!

FOCUS began in 1983 as a support group for parents with children who were undiagnosed and medically fragile. With a handful of medical professionals and parents, FOCUS was a lifeline for parents who needed information and support. Over the last 34 years, FOCUS has grown to reach over 4,500 families in Atlanta with a variety of programs: support groups, hospital visits, respite care, camps, and family activities.

Fragile Kids Foundation was founded over 27 years ago to help children who are medically fragile with equipment needed to help with everyday life, such as lifts for vans, specialized strollers and car seats, and lift systems for homes. Fragile Kids offers grants to assist with the cost of these items, which are not covered by Medicaid or insurance.

FOCUS + Fragile Kids understands and supports the unique needs of families with children who are medically fragile or have significant developmental or physical disabilities. We offer comfort, hope, and information to parents; accessible recreational and social programs for children and teens; prescribed medical equipment for medically fragile children not covered by insurance or Medicaid; and fun, inclusive activities for the entire family.

Each guest will be assigned a bid number as they arrive at “For the Love of Children.”

Guests have the option of registering their credit card as they receive their bid number. This gives FOCUS + Fragile Kids permission to charge their credit card after the event for all purchases made with their bid number.

Guests who choose not to register a credit card may check out at the end of the evening to pay by cash, check or credit card.

Silent Auction Guidelines6:30 to 10:00 pm

To bid on any of our fabulous items, write your bid number and your bid on the bid sheet corresponding to the item. Items may not be purchased for less than the opening bid and all bids must be raised in increments of $5 or more. The auction will close at 10 pm after a “last call for bids.” Committee members will circle the last bid at closing.

Check-Out GuidelinesAfter the auction closes, please collect the copy of your ‘winning’ bid sheet (with your number circled) and the corresponding item. If you registered your credit card, you may go home – or stay and dance! If you prefer to pay by check or cash – or if you chose not to register your credit card – please take the copy of your ‘winning’ bid and the item to check-out to pay. Original gift certificates will be in the atrium, near checkout.

Multiple check-out stations will be open throughout the evening so lines will move quickly.

If you must leave before the auction closes, FOCUS will contact you about any items you ‘win’ and arrange for pick-up or delivery.

Contributions exceeding the value of the auction item are tax-deductible. Receipts will be mailed if your purchases exceed retail value by $250.

FOCUS accepts cash, personal checks and MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express.
