Introduction Plate Tectonics is the geological theory

that states the Earthrsquos lithosphere (crust

and upper mantel) is divided up into

plates that are moving and changing by

a force known as convection currents

This theory explains phenomenas such as

continental drift and seafloor spreading

as well as earthquakes volcanoes and

the formation of mountains

Project Overview The 6th grade students will learn through hands on

activities and games the three types of tectonic plate

boundaries divergent convergent and transform

boundaries as well as what causes these plates to move

and create phenomena such as earthquakes and

volcanoes
