ABOUTEMN Plant Ltd is an established plant hire business incorporated in 2007, and is one of Shetland’s largest and leading businesses in their sector. Our main base is at Sella Ness in the Shetland North Mainland approximately two miles from the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal and we also have a yard in Lerwick.

The business was setup by the late Edmund M Nicolson and his three sons Christopher, Ellis and Martyn. Edmund was involved in plant hire in Shetland from 1972 and the following construction boom that followed with the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal being built and the huge upgrading of the Islands infrastructure. Today the company is managed by his sons together with a proficient management team and 35 staff in total employed.

Our main objective is to ensure complete customer satisfaction with the services we provide. To achieve this we ensure we provide a high quality and flexible can do service.

PLANT HIREWe have a wide range of plant and equipment in our plant hire base which we are continually renewing and extending. To ensure that our own plant and vehicles are maintained to the highest standard we have our own commercial garage facility and dedicated heavy plant mechanics.

Our mechanics are fully qualified and experienced for all types of repairs and maintenance. For remote repairs and maintenance we have a dedicated van that is equipped with a large range of tools and equipment. We keep a large stock of parts, filters, oils and consumables to ensure we can provide an efficient service with a quick turnaround for our customers.

DEMOLITION & DECOMMISSIONINGWe have invested heavily in plant, equipment and training to offer a comprehensive demolition and decommissioning service in Shetland. Our staff are trained to CCDO standard accredited by the National Demolition Training Group as well as being trained to removed non-licensed asbestos. With our own skip and hook bin service we can provide a complete demolition and waste management service that maximizes the amount of material recycled.

With our extensive experience of working in the Oil & Gas environments and collaboration with other specialist service providers we can provide a comprehensive decommissioning and demolition project managed service.

SCRAP METAL RECYCLINGAt our Scatsta Quarry we have a fully licensed concrete pad which is used for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal recycling service. We can provide a full collection service or clients can deliver to the site.
