Plant Diversity History

Plant diversity has played very important part in the history of life. Over time because of Plant Diversity we have found a bunch of new plants. We have discovered plants that hold good medical aspects that can help humans. We have also figured out that there are some plants that you should not eat nor touch because they can do some serious harm to people.

The first plant evolved from an organism much like the multi-cellular green algae that is living on this earth today.

What do pants need to survive?

The lives of plants revolve around the need for sunlight, water, and mineral, gas exchange, and the movement of water and nutrients throughout the plant body.

Bryophytes

• Mosses and their relatives are generally called bryophytes.

• Bryophytes have life cycles that depend on water for reproduction, lacking vascular tissue these plants draw up water using osmosis only a few centimeter above the ground.

• Bryophytes produce sperm that must swim through water to reach the egg of the other individuals. Bryophytes are mainly seen by the water because of that.

• Bryophytes are low growing plants that can be found in moist shaded areas.

Hornworts and Liverworts

Hornworts:Hornworts are a particular

Bryophyte they are a lot like most mosses but they grow in a upward angle giving them the name “Hornworts” they are usually found in wet places among rocks.

Liverworts: Liverworts are another type of

bryophytes that are usually found in moist places on the ground or growing on tree bark. Both Hornworts and liverworts are a kind of the moss family.
