Sue Wilson Clarkston Community Schools Mary Zumbrunnen Power of WE Consortium Dear National Service Program Staff, In 2005, program staff from Learn and Serve, AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and VISTA came together for Team Up!, Michigan's first ever cross-stream conference. It is now three years later and the need for collaboration and unity among National Service programs is greater than ever. Across Michigan, more than 56,000 people of all ages and backgrounds are helping to meet local needs, strengthen communities, and increase civic engagement through 127 national service projects. Think of how much we can accomplish working together! We invite you to join us for the next Team Up Michigan! Setting the Pace for National Service conference, which will take place October 2-3, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Big Rapids. This event is coordinated by The Corporation for National and Community Service- Michigan Office and the Michigan Community Service Commission. Thursday, October 2nd will consist of stream-specific meeting time for program staff from Learn and Serve, Senior Corps, and AmeriCorps (including AmeriCorps*State, VISTA, and National Direct). All streams will come together at lunch for the official Team Up Michigan! kickoff, featuring a keynote speaker (TBA), prizes, and fun! Friday, October 3rd will be entirely cross-stream with dynamic workshops, valuable networking time, and an important discussion about the future of National Service. Team Up Michigan! will help programs continue to set the pace by providing opportunities to exchange ideas and establish new partnerships with programs focusing on similar issue areas or serving in the same community. Our ultimate goal is to establish Michigan as the state that exemplifies the unique role that National Service can play in building a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility in America. There will be a small fee of $35.00 for all National Service program staff. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on October 2 nd and 3 rd . Participants will be responsible for dinner and overnight accommodations.
