Getting to the Bootcamp island
To get to the Bootcamp island please follow these steps.
Step 1: Download and install the Imprudence software,
For Windows
http://imprudence.googlecode.com/files/Imprudence-1.3.2-
Setup.exe
Or Mac http://imprudence.googlecode.com/files/Imprudence-
1.3.2-Mac-Intel.dmg
Click on the ‘Next >’ buttons when prompted to step through the
installation.
The default installation settings are ok to leave as they are.

Step 2: Now that you have installed the Imprudence software
double click the Imprudence program icon to start it. We will now
enter the PLANE virtual world Bootcamp region information.
If you get this warning message about your computer graphics
card it is ok to click the ‘Close’ button.
If you get this window it is ok to click on the ‘Cancel’ button.

a. Click on the 'Grid Manager' button
b. Click 'Add New Grid' button
c. Enter 'PLANE' in the 'Grid name' text entry field
d. Enter 'http://sim.plane.edu.au:8002' in the 'Login URI' text
entry field
e. Click the ‘Apply’ button
f. Click the 'OK' button

IMPORTANT STEP
g. In the ‘Grid’ menu list select the ‘PLANE’ grid.

Step 3: Login to the PLANE website
a. Using your web browser go to http://my.plane.edu.au
b. Login using your referred sign in provider details

You will see the below page after you sign in successfully.
c. Click on the ‘Virtual Worlds’ navigation tab button

c. Click on the ‘Generate Login Link’ button

d. Click on the ‘Virtual Worlds Login’ link.
You should now see the Imprudence software launch and
automatically login with your details to the PLANE virtual world.
Step 4: Let the fun begin!

General information about the Bootcamp island
Land Area: 256m by 256m
Grid Co-ordinates: 1000 1000
Population: currently 88 temporary residents, (the island will be
made public in the near future)
Climate: a perfect 23º Celsius all year round
Time Zone: +GMT 11hr
Currency: n/a, (the island is governed by open source and
creative commons)
Language: Mainly English but all languages are welcome

Areas of interest
Bootcamp Arrival
All new visitors to the island will initially arrive at this location.
This area has a self-guided tour to learn about the navigation
basics so that you can explore the island.
The billboards contain instructions and general help information.

Avatar Shop
In the Avatar Shop you will find clothes and other items to
personalise your avatar.
The shop is currently stocked with some of the PLANE 2011
Summer collection. More items will be added as we design, make
and source new clothing items.

Showcase Gallery
See what other local and international educators and teachers,
like you, are doing with virtual worlds in their classrooms.
We’re always on the lookout for good showcases to put up on our
billboards to share with other teachers.
Contact our friendly PLANE Bootcamp island staff to register
your expression of interest.

Meet Up Space
The Meet Up Space is a relaxing and friendly environment to
meet and catch up with fellow colleagues.
There are 2 main seating areas, a covered area with a seating
capacity of 15 people and an outdoor area with a seating
arrangement for 10 people.
This area can also be used to hold scheduled events.

Prim Playground
This is an area to build, manipulate and experiment with in-world
objects.
Objects made in this area are automatically removed after 30
minutes. We like to keep the Bootcamp island nice and tidy.
