• A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Multiple Dose Assessment Of The Analgesic Efficacy Of The DosingRegimen Of Valdecoxib Compared To Placebo Patients In Pain Following Bunionectomy (NCT00653354)
• Based on the study results published by company, GlobalData inferred that a total of 374 patients were analsyed.Primary Outcome Measures: The summed Pain Intensity Difference (categorical) through out a timespan of 24 hoursfor the pain intensity was analyzed using a 4-point scale ranging from no pain (0) condition to severe pain (3)condition. SPID over 24 hours was estimated by weighting the variation of PI scores from baseline by the range of time
interval between successive scheduled assessments, and summing the assessed over the total time period. The rangeof possible SPID 24 (categorical) values was from worst score (-23) to best score (69). The summed difference of painintensity through out 24hours (categorial) in the MIIT population had a p-value (SPID= mu +Ti + PI(0)K + error) as Themean SPID 24 scores (categorical) were significantly higher for the valdecoxib 40/20 mg and valdecoxib 40/0 mgtreatment groups than those of the placebo treatment group. The p-value (TOTPAR= mu + Ti + Cj + PI(0)k + error) forthe total pain relief through 24 hours (TOTPAR 24) in the MITT population was found to be The mean PID scores(categorical) for the valdecoxib 40/20 mg drug treatment group and valdecoxib 40/0 mg drug treatment groups wereconsiderably higher than those of the placebo treatment group at each assessment time (2 though 24 hours) for thetime-specific mean pain intensity difference (categorical) in the MITT population. The specific Pain Relief was analyzedat each time point using a 5-point scale ranging from 0 to 4. The mean PR scores for the valdecoxib 40/20 mg drug
treatment group and valdecoxib 40/0 mg drug treatment groups were more than those of the placebo treatment groupat each assessment time of 2 to 24 hours. The SPID difference over 24 hours was estimated by weighting the varianceof PI values from baseline by the time interval between successive scheduled assessments, and by summing over thetotal time period assessed during the study. The score of possible SPID 24 (VAS) values was from worst score(-1313.125) to best score (2387.5). The mean SPID 24 scores (VAS) for the valdecoxib 40/20 mg treatment group andvaldecoxib 40/0 mg treatment groups were significantly more than those of the placebo treatment group.
