Placido’s Post March 13, 2014 What’s New in Third Grade? Attendance Competition! We have started an attendance competition! Every two weeks, any class that has great attendance will receive a special popcorn party! Please try to be sure your student is here and on time each day! This is even more important since we are making up a lot of time with all of our snow days this year! Upcoming Dates 3/21 – End of 3 rd 9 Weeks Grading Period 3/24-3/28 – Book Fair 3/25 – Literacy Night 3/27- Jump Rope for Heart 3/31-4/4 – Spring Break! 4/10 – Report Cards Home 4/14 – Rescheduled Author’s Visit What We’re Learning Reading – Finding the theme in a text. Unit 4 Test on Wednesday! Social Studies– Regions of the United States Word Work – Words with the “h brothers” (ch, ph, wh, th, sh) Writing – Revising and Editing our Nonfiction Books Math – Using the distributive property of multiplication to find the area of a shape. Notes We are still collecting boxtops! Help us win next 9 weeks boxtop competition by sending them in with your student! These go a long way in buying extra books and supplies for our classroom!
